I think this was linked in another thread but the "signs" at 2:34 and 4:59 need a mention. Funny and another great performance.

Hahahahahaha! I can't believe you posted a thread purely for my signs! They are good signs though, some of my best finest scribbling-on-paper. XD

That's a good one, and the signs are great too. I enjoy the energy. Lots of fun.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Must be nice to be able to sing along with Perry songs and actually hit the notes. Most guys don't have that luxury.

:(

Great job! One of my favorite Journey songs (I say that about all of them - LOL!).

Whoops - I deleted my post because I wasn't sure if it belonged here. I said that I loved Lifer's avatar because it captured the spirit of Journey more than any other picture I had seen.

There are 4 signs in my uploading video. One of them being a cartoon more of a sign, but a sign nevertheless!

About ten-thousand-billion people have said that, and the answer is always gonna be the same.....
NO! I don't want to go anywhere with singing, it's just a bit of fun. Besides, EVERYBODY is in a band these days, it's nice to have some individuality going down the cartoonist route.

Never say never. Five or six years from now you could change your mind. Not saying you would for sure, but you never know. You obviously have more talent than 98% of the people on Americal Idol. Plus you seem to love singing. How many people have 70+ videos of them singing on the Internet at 15 years old? I would imagine you could count the number on two hands.

Hey, everybody's different. :P What's wrong with me having a hobby? There are many versions of love, after all. My love of singing is an offcut from my obsessive love of record/CD collecting. My love of cartooning has been there since my left hand realised how to use a crayon. Besides, I've filled more than 73 sketchbooks. ^_^ Also, I have a knack for holding grudges and hating people in a drama queen way. I've never been able to work with people very well, therefore the poor imaginary band you want me to join would be dead by the end the first practice. Another also... I can't write for the life of me! I like being creative, but lyric writing is one of the many talents I do not have. However, I would happily design an album cover for some band or another.

The point is..... I know how much I want to cartoon and how hard I'm working for it. I'm usually extremely lazy and drawing is the only thing I can put my mind to without drifting away. A singing career would just plummet because I won't be bothered to show up at the studio.

You know, I wasn't sure if you were dabbling in the drawing or if you're taking it seriously.

If you're serious about it, you need to do it because you love to do it. Don't expect to make an easy living at it. It's hard work and you're always looking for your next job. I know because I was a professional comic book artist at one point.

I'm very aware of that. My dad's a cartoonist, after all.... I know how hard it can be. But I happen to be one of those fools who choose a career that will hardly bring in the dough, but I enjoy it, so it's not all bad. I'm just amazed that I have my first drawing-gig so soon. I'm quite lucky to have a Kansas/Rush/Journey/Hall & Oates loving philosophy teacher who's willing to pay for my cartoons.

You're a talented little thang Phen. I can truly say I was amused at watching some of your videos for various tunes. Although you don't wish to sing, you do have a pretty damn good voice. Maybe somewhere down the road, you'll change your mind and give it a shot whether it's just as a weekend thing or full time. Who knows? Peoples minds change second by second, year by year and you're still young, so......

Best of luck no matter where your road is leading you 8)

Thanks, but I've grown up a bit more than some people I know. I've wanted the same career for years while others change their minds every 2 minutes! The whole thing about my singing being just a hobby doesn't seem to be connecting with anyone, does it? XD Oy vey.......

hey, just enjoy the praise for what it is.

it's not the worse thing that people think you have a talent that might support your comic habit, lol.
[though I guess neither is easy to make it big in]

speaking of which, are you into animated or print-

ever heard of 'love and rockets'
or ren & stimpy [brilliant]

who are your inspirations -

Praise is all very well, but I would much rather see tons-a picture comments on myspaz about my drawings. :P

REN AND STIMPY IS MY FAVOURITE THING IN THE WORLD! Only the first 2 seasons and APC though! John Kricfalusi is a huge hero of mine in the cartooning field. His sick, twisted sense of humour amuses me greatly. ^_^
I also love Robert Crumb (again, the twistedness...), Aline Kominsky Crumb (the autobiographical stories are fantastic), Diane Noomin, Life In Hell (Groening's work before the Simpsons...they always have me in hysterics, they're so paranoid ^_^) Daniel Clowes, etc etc.... I have many inspirations, actually. I also end up drawing stories and pictures based on songs though as well as fake band-histories.

I believe that there's not much point of having so many songs and not singing along to them. Sing all you like, it's such a laugh.
