Someone took the time to show Perry/ Soto each singing the same song back and forth. Does anyone know where I saw it? Thanks !

Now that's friggin cool! Love how JSS still has that Journey sound but puts his own feel to it.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.......

Pure excellence. SP and JSS have their own individual presence and class. This happens to be one of my all time favorites.
The talent that both these men have is incredible.

JSS's version is a half step down, so what, he still sounds good, but imho can't touch the Perry version.

There is nothing about that clip of Soto that makes me feel he's trying his best to "one up" or clone the Perry sound. That's what "I", as a Journey fan wanted, if Frig and Fro were hell bent on moving on without Perry. Even though the clips were a side by side comparison (whether that was intentional or not), I just heard two completely different singers doing an excellent job on the song.
The biggest difference about those two (or anybody else) singing that song was that it was known to be Perry's "pet song", as Princess Friga once said in an interview. He wrote lyrics and tweaked the melody until he was finally happy with it. That puts him head and shoulders above ANYBODY that sings that song. Jeff's cover of it is damn good, though....no Perryisms, nothing note for note, which is the way it should be.

Yes on both counts. Again I must ask Schon and Cain... what the hell is wrong wit'choo? IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE MONEY YOU KNOW! I guess that's hard to understand then there are breast implants and tummy tucks to be funded, and kids all over the place to support, and lawyers to be paid, but still....
fuuuuuuck!!

I had the priviledge of seeing both Steve Perry('83) and Jeff Scott Soto live with Journey on a couple occasions!!
And Jeff was fantastic in Journey!! The shows I was at - Chula Vista and at the Hollywood Bowl - people were NOT complaining that he couldn't "touch Perry" they(we) were blown away!!!
Wish you could have seen him live with Journey. He doesn't have to try to impersonate Steve Perry because Jeff Scott Soto is OUTSTANDING in his own right and was a perfect fit for Journey.

That was IT Rick ! Thanks you so much. Yes, Soto did justice to Perry's sound. I am glad I got to see Soto do justice to the music. No more for me.

Amen! My only regret was that the tour with Jeff was the only time I saw Journey just once during a tour. Usually I'd make Concord and or/Shoreline, Marysville (Sacramento) and Fresno.
I was too cheap because I did All Access once. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!
