Hulk Hogan's wife files for divorce

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Reuters) - The wife of professional wrestling and reality TV star Hulk Hogan has filed for divorce, the St. Petersburg Times reported on Saturday.

Linda Bollea filed the divorce papers in Pinellas County court on November 20 against Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, the newspaper said.

Hogan and his wife appear on the VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best" with their children Nick, 17, and Brooke, 19.

Nick Bollea was arrested November 7 on reckless driving charges for an August 28 accident in Clearwater that left his passenger John Graziano, 22, in critical condition.

Terry and Linda Bollea were married in 1984. He is 54 and she is 48. The family lives in Belleair, near Clearwater.

Hogan is a jackass who refused to job for Ric Flair. He couldn't lace the Nature Boy's boots.

Whooooooooo!

Bad times for the Hogan family for sure. I first saw Hogan vs. Andre the Giant on 12/27/80 in Baltimore

It's all Neal and Jon's fault. Let's blame them. It started because she's a Soto fan and he's giving Arnel a shot. :)

I watched three seasons of their show before quitting, and to me she always came off as a shallow, materialistic bimbo. I never thought she was a bad person or a bad mother, but she just didn't seem to have a great deal of depth. Seems like she tries to look and act as if she's still in her early 20's, and doesn't take life too seriously.

Thought similarly of the Hulkster -- I think basically he is a good guy and means well, but also is basically a meathead, and relies on that stereotypical image a little too much. They both need to come down to earth and get real. Still, it always came off that he really loved her, and I'm sure he's hurting quite a bit over this. A real shame.

Steroids, he's probably very volatile and perhaps this thing with their son has torn them apart.

I have a feeling the situation with his son has put a strain on the marriage. I also believe he's a bit over bearing. Didn't they do a show on where Hulk and his wife was thinking about separating? Of course, you don't know how much of that is just all for show.

He supposedly just got a HUGE contract with the WWE for one last run and then a position with the writing crew and I'm sure a gig here and a gig there. The offer was somthing weird like a 60 year contract that would take him to the day he dies obviously being 58 now. I think the thought of going on the road again, Brooke singing career taking off and Nick doing whatever it is that he does really torn them apart. That was the big issue today on the show. I don't know how old the show was.....

I was actually watching a marathon today of Hogan Knows Best and they were in some sort of marraige counciling. It actually was a very emotional show when he was asked by the therapist to write what she meant to him.....They were all crying. He wrote a very deep letter. More than I thought he had in him. The show ended very positively and they seemed happy.

He is definately in bad shape. It looks like he can barely walk at times on the show.....He is really broken down.

Has anyone every listened to any of Brooke's CD's or singles? Is she any good?

I'm sure that must be playing into the strain between them, for sure. He mentioned she'd been in CA for a few weeks -- a separation, perhaps, or extended time apart? He does choose to be a meathead, though I think he means well.

Wife of Hulk Hogan files for divorce
CLEARWATER — As if the family’s affairs weren’t already complicated enough, it now appears that Terry and Linda Bollea, also known as Mr. and Mrs. Hulk Hogan, are heading to court for a divorce.

Pinellas County court records show that Linda Marie Bollea, 48, filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Terry Gene Bollea, 54, on Tuesday. She is represented by Largo attorney Elliot Jay Goldstein.

The possibility that the Bolleas would divorce after 23 years of marriage has been the subject of an episode of “Hogan Knows Best.” On the VH1 reality TV show, the couple reconciled.

More recently, the couple has been preparing to aid their son, Nick Bollea, 17, defend himself from a felony charge that he was driving reckless in August when his Toyota Supra went out of control and slammed into a tree. A passenger, John Graziano, suffered a brain injury.

Reached by phone on Friday night, Terry Bollea said he had no idea she had filed for divorce. Informed by a reporter that the paperwork was submitted on Tuesday, Bollea said, “Thank you for the great information,” and hung up.

He called back about five minutes later.

“I’m kind of shocked,” he said. “You caught me off-guard. My wife has been in California for about three weeks. ... Holy smokes. Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me. ... I just pulled over to the side of the road for five minutes to find out what was going here.”

Asked whether he and his wife had discussed divorce, he said, “That’s my private business.”

Phone calls to Linda Bollea’s cellphone went unanswered on Friday night.

Man, Linda must've taken advice from Frig and Fro. Kind of feel bad for Hulk, but then again, we don't know the whole story.

Exactly. If parents can't control their differences while their child is in need, then all I can say is they (or one of them) is incredibly selfish. All of this "oh I'm not happy" crap is purely self-centered...on both sides.

"Parents that divorce for simple selfish reasons should never have become parents, for they are still kids themselves."

Um yeah. She probably was in Ca with Brooke to sign with Azoff. He told them they needed to get rid of the guy with the bad hip. He already had one group that went through it and it has damaged them irreparably ever since. So if Brooke wants her career to soar early, she needs to dump the cripple before she breaks out. Linda obviously sent someone else to tell Hulk and won't return any of his phone calls now. Sounds eerily familiar. 8)

Word is they hired some Japanese actor to take Hulk's place on the show because they saw him on youtube going "let me tell you something brother" and really think he can pull it off without too many people knowing the difference.

I saw a few episodes,my brother watched it all the time and said the same thing you did..She is very shallow and doesn't appreciate him or where she came from.. And for someone below ,how do you know she isn't cheating? She's the one in cali for 3 weeks and he doesn't know what she's doing there..He's with the kids.. Also,I met Hulk in person a while back and he is a super nice guy...Talked to me for quite a while and actually genuinely cared..! He is a wonderful guy and I wish him nothing but the best.. Arnold S..is another stand up guy,met him too, down to earth, nice guy who also talked to me and a friend for a while..Both class acts!!

When it comes to the fans, I've always heard very nice things about Hulk Hogan. When he was wrestling full time back in the WWF, a friend used to go to Minneapolis/St. Paul area and they made a night of it whenever the WWF had some show in the area. Her group had stayed in a hotel, and little did they know, that many of the wrestlers for that nights event were also in that hotel. She said that her group went down to the hotel bar and a "towering" Hulk Hogan just happened to be standing right next to her and she didn't know he was there. She turned to walk and ran smack into his chest, looked up and he was smiling down at her. She was all of 5'2" She had spilled her drink and he made sure she got another full one as well as the other people at her table. He and a few other wrestlers came over and chatted for a while and all were very very nice to them, even the ones that were supposed to be "sworn enemies" in the ring

As for this divorce thing, I'm sure having a TV crew in your house 24/7 adds to the strain of every day life, let alone a relationship. And with the edited footage, I'm sure they made things out to be alot worse than they were.. Linda went about this completely the wrong way as far as I'm concerned. I know some people will start throwing the "gold digger" term out there, but considering she's been with him since very early in his career, I don't think this is the case. It's been 23 years for them... Some people just grow apart. If she were to stay with him just for the money, then she'd be labled the gold digger in my eyes.

If Hulk was in the dark about this, I wonder if the kids even knew :? What about the possibility of this being a publicity stunt to gain more attention to the show? Ya never know.........

I agree with both of you. Again, I don't think either of them are maliciously bad people, but the money has had to be an insulator of sorts which kept some things manageable for 23 years. Who knows? Maybe Linda took up with that smarmy European professional trainer that Hulk kicked out of his house. That was one of the best episodes I'd ever seen! I quit watching the show because VH1's "reality" ingredient had been reduced to almost nothing, and I had no interest in watching manufactured situations.

I don't think Linda is strictly a gold digger, and again, she seems like a basically nice person. She just seems a little too pampered, and also not that mature. Doesn't seem concerned by how her actions might affect others (remember the incident with all her pets upsetting the neighbors from the 1st or 2nd season) She behaves like a teenager most of the time in my opinion, totally living for the moment, when she needs to act like a woman. The bleach blond hair and hot pink lipstick, along with the way she keeps her mouth open (like "Duuuhhhh!") after slinging some sassy little comment. But who honestly knows -- the only thing I know of her is from the show, so even that is questionable.

I've never heard that Hulkster was anything other than genuine and nice with his fans, and I've also heard that he's a Christian (though you can't tell from the show). He just acts like a meathead who relies a little too much on his physicality to get him by in situations, and not much of a thinker. Yeah, I'm sure the strain of Nick's situation has hurt them, and Linda was recently quoted as (and denied saying) how much she enjoyed drag racing herself, dodging cars and cops:

Definitely sounds like Hulk got blindsided by this one. I agree that the latest issues with their son could have something to do with it. I can't imagine how stressful all of that is.

Me too. Flair and Hogan are both great. Hogan just should have "done the honors" more. If that makes any sense.

Hey Dean, remember that wrestling conversation on the way to Providence, RI?

Or is this some type of legal ploy for the lawsuit that is bound to happen in regards to Mr. Graziano...the young man left in a comatose state because of Nick's car accident?.........

By the way....Mr. Hogan is a comman face around the Tampa/St. Pete area....

You have definitely hit on something here, maybe they need to split monies to avoid all of it being up for grabs in that litigation.
