Well, it's not really Queen but that's pretty cool anyway.

Thanks for the song link.
Liked the tune, but really missed Freddie's vocals complimenting that distinctive Brian May guitar tone.

You're preaching to the choir with that statement. Freddie was every bit Queen to me as Perry was Journey! I know the Paul Rodgers fans are endless, but every time I've heard Rodgers sing the Queen classics, I simply cringe, listening to every word. It's simply not the way the songs were recorded and barely recognizable to my ears. I certainly don't blame Rodgers for it...It just isn't Queen!

I like Paul Rodgers, but I think JSS would have been a better choice for the Queen sound. I watched a Queen dvd and the JSS Queen dvd back to back.........definately!

Please...Freddie was the Queen sound as far as vocals go. This isn't even Queen. It's May and Taylor playing with 2 other guys.

No arguments here, Freddie was definately the sound of Queen. Just meant IMO, JSS is closer to the Queen sound than Paul Rodgers is. I wish the non-accoustic version of JSS's These Are The Days was up on youtube........totally channels Freddie on that one....excellent!

That is why they continue to call it Queen + Paul Rodgers....

And as much is made of Freddie, you cannot deny the distict sound of Brian May's guitar and the harmonies supplied by Brian and Roger...

I love both of Brians solo cd's. I wish he'd stick to that and let Queen rest in peace. I'd go see Brian live. Bastardized Queen? No

being a huge queen fan, hearing that song is bittersweet for me. freddie was such a huge persona and vocalist: obviously a huge part of queen. with this song in mind, i take freddie's absence with a grain of salt. if you're familiar with the guys in queen and paul rogers, they are simply just having fun and doing what they love best. so i take it for what it is and enjoy it, and not compare it.

i have to say, their sound is just awesome. brian is such a masterful guitarist....

cheers

While great in theory, I'm not sure it's realistic to tell people not to compare it. The fact is that they're still calling themselves Queen (and I could care less if it's "plus Paul Rodgers"). The name Queen is simply synonomous with Freddie Mercury, for soooooo many people. I honestly don't consider myself a Queen fanatic, at all. That said, when I saw them on the VH1 Rock Honors show, I was personally appalled at how AWFUL their classic songs sounded. I didn't even recognize what most of the songs were, because they sounded NOTHING like the originals. It's one thing to have some artistic creativity. It's another thing to completely change entire songs, so that they don't resemble their original recordings.

Hi John

Yes, I do agree that Freddie is very much the signature sound of Queen. And the songs do take on an entirely different feel with Paul. The only point I'm trying to make is that these guys are simply joining forces and having a good time doing their thing. They never tried to get a Freddie sound-alike, so I respect that in many ways. Do I prefer Freddie....of course. Just saying it's nice hearing the queen sound again.

I agree.
I thought the post Freddie song "No One But You (only the good die young)" Was a perfect ending to Queen. A great period to the band.

John Deacon is assuming the Perry role here and living up to his word. Good on him.

Welcome! It's a great dvd. That was the only clip on youtube I could find that showed more than one song from it, he does a smokin' job on over 40 Queen songs on it. Some of my fave's are Hammer to Fall, These are the Days, Tie Your Mother Down, Dragon Attack, Fat bottom girls, Radio GaGa......too many.
