OT: Inside Steven Tyler's Voice Box

I guess you all remember Tyler's throat/vocal problems from last spring and then the fantastic breakthrough surgery he's had, performed by Dr.Steven Zeitels.

Well,I saw the National Geographic episode of "Incredible Human Machine" with Steven Tyler, which presented the whole procedure.
My jaw dropped...It was absolutely fascinating to see how Tyler's "sound factory" is working and how that genius doc restored Tyler's ability to sing and hit the high notes again.

There's a short clip up on the NG site:http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/incredible-human-machine/tyler-video.html

Hoping for a next episode...Incredible Human Machine with,um... Steve Perry. (I couldn't help it,sorry :( )

That's very fascinating, thanks for posting it Laura.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

OMFG, that was COOL! :D

At the end, where he hits that real high note and they show what happens to the chords... that was wild!

That was cool as hell to watch Laura. Thanks for posting that. Always been fascinated to see how singers do what they do, my favorite instrument by far. :D I can just imagine the wear and tear the early high material put on Perry's chords too.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
