If Hell Froze Over...

I can't believe I'm even posting this because I normally roll my eyes at the whole "what if Perry....?" thing.
I do have a grip on reality and I know it's not happening, BUT I got to wondering -
now that they have a singer on board, WWJD (what would Journey do)
So if hell froze over today and Perry called Journey tomorrow and said, "let's do one more round"... WWJD?
Would they tell him "You missed your chance, go play with a cat and don't call this number anymore" ?
Or would they drop Arnel faster than Paris Hilton's britches without thinking twice about it?

I think they'd want Perry back...The money involved and the chance to reunite one more time would be too tempting to turn down.

You forgot the rest of the statement
Neal: "Screw you Arnel, the moneymaker is back and I've got another divorce to pay for"

I reference SJ's thread about the Van Halen tour. The money will always win out. Who could blame them, either? Unfortunately, this is about as likely to happen as Jessica Simpson writing a dissertation on 17th Century Dutch Economics...

Yeah I know, but you only get so much space to enter your poll choice and there isn't enough room to list all the things he would need to fund... divorces, botox, robot guitars, afro transplant, illegitimate kids left right and center... it's too exhausting to ponder.

You forgot purple shirts and sunglasses from the Elton John collection at K-Mart.

If Perry's voice was useable, they would definitely want him back.
(It's toast, though, or we would have heard music from him long ago)

I understand. We'll just say it was implied. That and "Friga needs a new tu-tu along with his keytar".

And if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. That's what my father used to tell me when I would overwhelm him with the "what if" questions when I was a little kid. And...they (Journey) would all probably just roll their eyes if Perry contacted them to ask for the job back, probably tell him to go back to the turkey farm. It's too late for Perry, for right now anyways. If the upcoming album release is kickass, why in hell would Journey want Perry back? If the album bombs, that could be a different story though.

They wouldn't be that stupid not to accept his offer, but then again.....
I voted for #2

They committed to Arnel..They wouldn't just say sorry pal.. They have done questionable things before but this would be too much.. A lot of people would say it was the right thing to do.. It would be because it isn't you! I don't think they trust Perry anymore..How many times can you F your own band and come back. I think he had his chance and they guys don't trust him..I don't want him back myself for the simple reason,I don't want another TBF or FTLOSM.. I would cry..I want more arrival.. If Perry did come back,He better do something like Escape! That's what the fans want, not a best of ballads album! I will guarantee you that they waited til the last possible moment to see if Perry had any interest..He seems to hold grudges..Its his way or the hi way.. Too bad such great musicians can't get along..A real pity!

Of course they would want Perry back, even as idiotic as they are, they wouldn't be that stupid, at least I don't think. And they've screwed lead singers in the recent past for less, even though they were "committed" to them.

I bet you're right about that - they wouldn't say that.
They probably wouldn't say anything at all and just let him read it online like with JSS.
Journey69 wrote:I don't think they trust Perry anymore..

About as many times as you can F your lead singers and toss them in the shitter the minute they can't cut it or you think you found a better option. Insult Perry as much as you need to, but JFro aren't any damn better in the department of bandmate assfucking.

If Arnel is a cool motherfucker like JSS, then he would graciously step aside. Jeff said on more than one occasion that he would step down out of respect for SP.

Arnel would be sent to the INS office so fast it would make his head spin.
I to agree that it will never happen. SP is too busy counting his $$.

I'd like to hear "Fuck no I'm not stepping aside for Perry. For what? So he can come in, waste a year or two of the band's years again and ultimately bail? Tell Mr. 'legal eagle gag order' Perry I'm under contract and he can go fuck himself. Like I'd give up the opportunity of a lifetime for a guy that's shown he has no desire to do what's in the best interest of the band since 1986" Then of course, "said" singer would gone faster than $50 in a whorehouse, but he'd have my respect.

Forget the weirdness that was ROR with the studio musicians, forget the TBF tour that never happened, forget all of the issues...
If Perry called saying he'd like to rejoin the journey, Arnel would be out and a new contract would be drawn before Perry could hang up the phone.
It would've happened with Steve A or Jeff as well.
Arnel seems like a good guy. I have no doubt he'd graciously step aside for the Voice and more power to him for that. Fortunately for him this is only a "what if" game.

Absolutely, positively 100%
INCORRECT!!! Because of Perry's antics in the past, it would take a legal TEAM weeks, if not months, to secure a deal where he wouldn't be able to walk out on these guys again. He's suppressed their careers enough with waiting, detours and unfinished projects and tours. No way they let him back without having him over a barrel...which in
his case just means he'll finish what he's started.

You're probably right. But I can't imagine Perry willingly entering into a deal with Journey without an escape plan. If they handed him a contract that allowed him no freedom to walk away he'd retract his offer (they're pressuring him and it doesn't make him feel like a part of the band) and Neal'd better hope Arnel doesn't hold grudges.

That would just set into motion a vicious cycle that no one wants to deal with. I'm sure there'd be an escape clause (no pun), but it would be so airtight. If he ever came back, the legal work would be a hellish nightmare. That alone would be more of a headache than its worth. It'd take a long ass time to get it all ironed out, cut and dry. They wouldn't hand him the contract anyway... I'd imagine contracts would be tossed around by all parties.
