OT: "Steve Perry - Sings The Ballads Of Love"

If I was Steve's manager, I'd say it's time to put Journey behind you and start in a new direction. I would suggest recording an album of his favorite ballad covers. Let's face it, his fans are primarily women and most of his female fans are in their 40's and up so why not croon some love songs to them? "Steve Perry Sings The Ballads Of Love"

I would follow this with a tour. Bringing along a small band with an Orchestra where he could perform some of these ballads live. I would also tell Steve to perform a few of this classic Journey ballads like "Open Arms" and perhaps "Faithfully". Record this show as a DVD as well.

So we end up with a album (ok..CD) of ballad covers, a small tour to promote the CD, and ultimately a DVD recording of the tour.

I'd buy into all 3, would anyone else?

I would only purchase original music. I really hope he does something this year.

I don't know, just from scanting the posters on this board, it seems to me there are as many male fans for Steve as female.

And about doing covers, it seems to me, from reading all his past/most recent interviews, he's just not interested in doing that. Of course, as each day and year passes, it doesn't appear he will be coming out with anything new, either  .

I'd like for him to record a song with a few buddies and put it on itunes...no contracts, no commitments, just having fun and being creative.

Boring. Rod Stewart and Michael Bolton (the true old farts of rock n roll) have this covered. I'd still buy it though...
Jospeph Williams (ex-Toto) is doing it now and I love that guy's voice....but fark me if these records don't bore me to tears also.

I would buy a CD of Steve Perry using a skill saw, as long as he hummed.....

I usually avoid covers albums. Just really prefer original music.

Hey, ScarabGator -- your signature makes me think... We should start a "Steve Perry Facts" thread, ala Chuck Norris Facts! :P

I'd really like to hear him sing the songs of the singers that he's said inspired him, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Walker, etc. I know it's been done to death already and he'd probably think it would be just jumping on the "old farts" bandwagon, but I'd still like to hear it.

If Steve Perry does indeed ever release another album I think an appropriate title would be "Flash In The Pan."

Of course I'd buy them.

I'd prefer a cd of his original music though.

And if it were a covers effort it could be titled Perry Pipes In.

Off the annual guarantees of "this year" I see, downgraded to hope. :)

I could take covers if they were, like Rod Stewart's last record, rock covers.
