OT: Rip Rokken...Legend Seven?

Ever heard of them? On their debut, they were simply "Legend" but they must've had to change their name because of some conflict with another or something like that. Their follow-up was "Blind Faith". Both great albums and their lead singer, Andy Denton, was one of the best in the business at the time, in my opinion.

Andy and his family used to live in the same complex and go to the same church that I did. It's funny that someone asked about him on this board because I remember telling him about how great Augeri was and the story of how Journey had found him. He said man if I ever got the chance to sing for Journey or someone I think I would have to take it to.

On the first Legend cd there's a song called After The Fall. Sounds nothing like the J version.

I think I have both those cds. Haven't seen them in a while though. Boxed up like all good cd should be. :D

Hey, man! You know, I've never heard of them. Actually, the name sounds familiar, but I'm pretty certain I'm unfamiliar with their music. Are they Christian rock? I'll have to look them up, and will check out that MySpace page. Thanks for the tip!

Yes. They came out right about the time that grunge/alternative was hitting it big so they didn't last long but both of their two albums are excellent.

Cool. I think he would've been a great choice for Journey. Great singer.

There's a great online station called Reign Radio (www.reignradio.com) and they have a great "classic" Christian metal channel. Legend/Legend Seven gets played on there quite a bit, along with other great bands from the era like Angelica, Guardian, Fear Not, The Brave, etc. Hours of non-stop Christian AOR.

Andy Denton was also in Ruscha prior to joining Legend, and did an album with Sweet Comfort Band/Allies leader Randy Thomas as a duo called Identical Strangers a couple years back.

Angelica was a great band also...Dennis Cameron was the guitarist in that band and was/is incredible. One of the most technically gifted players out there that not very many people have heard of.

Hopefully they play some Whitecross, Barren Cross, Bloodgood and Holy Soldier too!

BTW, Dave, this guy in Legend 7 has a great voice!

Yep, they play all of the above. I listen to it religiously (pun intended) pretty much every day on my PC at work. Always hearing stuff that I love from these bands.

Agreed with you on Angelica. Every album was a killer. Another band that should've been huge was Novella. Their two albums are melodic rock gems, and Jonathan Pagano had an uncanny vocal resemblance to Perry at times.

I have those two albums and they're both pretty good. Also used to have Jonathan Pagano's autography, albeit inadvertantly, since I'd ordered the first Novella album and his signature was on the returned check.

Andy is a very humble and Godly man. From what I observed he is also a great husband and father and one of the last times I saw him, his daughter sang in a Christmas program at church. She definitely inherited his talent because she was about 13 or 14 and sang like an angel. I think he could have been huge in secular music but because of his devotion to God he never really wanted to go that route. Not sure he could pull off all the Journey stuff, but I sure would have liked to heard him try.
