apparently the director's cut has a story regarding the drug use of one member and is maybe 30 minutes longer

There's a bit about one of the musician's money problems and maybe something else but not that much...

Lula, that is the cutest picture of Wyatt. Looks like he had a fine Christmas!
"as long as they have to carry DSB as their banner, it looks like Perry will be right there with them as an overseer, ready to wield his veto power on all things Classic Journey." As quoted by Don on 12/7/2010

Jesus Christ Steve, could you you be any worse a writer? Fuckin all Hell.

It was Ross' coke addiction, not Neal's, Deen with two EE's and "Friga's pole addiction?" That made me laugh out loud, loudly.

I know someone, who was sitting in a bar and Neal sat down beside him. Of course when he recognized Neal, he was a little star struck. He was trying to carry on a conversation with Neal and right in the middle of the sentence, Neal asked him if he knew where he could score some coke. As soon as my buddy said he didn't, Neal just got up and left. I trust the source this came from. There's my two cents.

Good god man, I've heard that urban legend story with "your favorite artist" instead of "Neal" so many times in a bar! Seriously!! I've heard it used with Eddie Van Halen, Vince Neil, Axel Rose. What a hoot!

If Neal wants a little nose candy, so what? He has the bank, who gives a shit?

I wouldn't tell this story on MR but that's just me.

Well, you said it was Ross, not Neal. If I would have just said "no, it's Neal too", you would have said "how do you know?". If not, you would have just said I was full of shit...Just wanted to explain what I was referring to, that's all. You're right though, it's his nose and his money...if he wants to blow it, that's his perogative.

There's more story about Aynsley leaving the band -- the clash with him and Perry. There's stuff about Ross's bankruptcy as well additional commentary about everything else.

I've always wondered what the deal was with Dunbar. I remember hearing alot about him dissing the rest of the band when they weren't around, and some shit about him and truckloads of underage girls.

If anyone can give some Dunbar insight, please do, I'm immensely curious. Love the guy's drumming..

Depending on who was doing the talking and at what stages of time period, here's what I remember, stuff I have read and come across surrounding the Aynsley departure:

Herbie said in the Castles Burning interview that he would catch A. fooling around with underaged girls in his room, so he fired him. Yet, in the BTM feature, Herbie said he "loved" A. but "had to fire him". The announcer on the show alluded to a conflict of styles between SP and AD, especially in Journey live settings. Aynsley himself commented on the show that he "liked to push it, don't like to just sit back and provide a nice backbeat for the singer to carry the tune." (paraphrasing here).

I have read 2 versions from SP, actually 2 in print and 1 audio. Circa '79: Aynsley seemed "above" everybody else. All the guys would "hang out" with each other on the road, except for Aynsley. They watched SS and Montrose play as their opening band, later jammed and became close buds. All the Journey guys liked Smitty better. Circa '05 (when Houston dvd came out), SP said: "I admit I was causing trouble. One day, Neal and I were watching Steve Smith playing up there, and I turned to Neal and said, "that should be Journey's drummer." (paraphrasing here).

Aynsley has been quoted (in a drummers mag) as saying the reason he lefted Journey was because of creative differences between himself and SP.

At the time ('79) when this change occurred, Neal weighed in that "we all played and practiced together as a band. He (meaning Aynsley) was the only one who would be practicing and counting his solos during sound check."

Judging from another HH quote from that time period, "he (Aynsley) can fight us on this all he wants. But he will not get another dime of compensation." So I take it, it was not a mutually happy separation. Don't know the exact timeline, but Aynsley did catch on with Jefferson Starship, another S.F. supergroup.

Now, let's see if Monker has anything else to add to these summary of events  .

I would love to be able to see the Directors Cut again.
In actuality its uncut & has some details cut from the abridged version.

I;m sure there are many subtle differences
but the one that really ached in my heart
was to see that Steve Perry made the
"When You Love a Woman" video in pain.

I recall it being mentioned that he had to rest between takes with icepacks on his hips.

So now when you look into those eyes
& you see a sadness
you know it was real...
