Hi Guys,

I thought that may get your attention...

Just wanted to formally introduce myself. Been a LONG, LONG time lurker around here for ages...so I thought I would bite the bullet and join in the fun and games that is the MelodicRock.com Journey forum.

Now, I know that there are many charactures in here, so I will be good....Haha!!

Oh, and no - I am not Neal Schon or any one else from the band... just my first post.... (have I just landed myself in conspiracy land??)

I suppose while I am typing, a quick question regarding ROR:

Anyone know why the lyrics were not printed for the title track? In my booklet that song is completly missed out...I assume that there must have been a problem reproducing the lyrics from lots of famous songs (I am sure someone IN THE KNOW might give this a go???)

Anyway - this place has been a great place to come for a good read - hopefully I can join in the fun....

Hi! After you lower your expectations about getting realistic debate about Journey, it's great around here! Good for a laugh for sure!!

I am pretty sure the lyrics were skipped for one or two reasons:

1) The song (and album) was an homage to radio and a time when you would sit by the radio just to hear your favorite song. You didn't get to read lyrics. You had to learn them from listening over and over again.

2) The lyrics are simply titles or lyrics from many classic hits. It's more fun trying to figure them all out on your own.

According to the Frig in an interview that I have, the lyrics were purposely left off to give the listeners the fun of listening and paying attention to figure them out themselves. I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it.

Interesting...I have to say, that it has never been one of my favorite Journey tracks - it was always a track I skipped, however the lyrics are pretty good.

I agree....interesting track. And I guess I'm stating the obvious, but every word (or set of words) is actually a classic hit single (hence the title)...

I wouldn't mind, but this song NEEDED the lyrics noted in the booklet...I had NO idea what SP was singing in this one!!!

So true!!!!! Emotional wailing. I'm still trying to figure out some of the adlibs SP did during songs in concert. Makes for a fun time......Boy, do I need a life!
