What Neal Should really Do

Neal, dude, listen.

If you believe you made a great choice, a proper choice, then validate it. Here is what I mean.

Inundate the fans with Arnel. Paste his grill everywhere. Advertise the new singer, a "great new voice to music" and really increase the interest. Like someone else said, make his demo, you already did anyway, and play his version on all the radio advertising. You needn't worry about him taking all the spotlight. Real rock fans know who you are. but......as we both know, you may be the vehicle that makes the Journey machine move, but the singer is the gas, the fuel the additive you know you need. Although I think you had 92 octane with JSS, you chose to go another route and I do think AP can deliver. I am not worried about stage presence and as far as introducing songs and such, you or Princess can do that...Hell, you both spoke a lot during SA's first few gigs.

Seriously, flood the market with your new singer; his face, name and especially his voice. If he is that good, it is the smartest thing your band could do. Now, if he isn't really that good, you could continue to use SP's voice to get the ticket sold and "get through" your shows with AP.

I think you know I'm right on this.

I refered to this thread from donna's stage presence thread...I think, Deano, you're spot on (as always) with this. For jrny to turn this lemon into lemonade, they need to do exactly as you stated.

Unfortunately, I only see Neal/Cain doing what you said when the NHL announces an expansion team in Hell. Schon and Cain refuse to let go of the leash with any singer....they certainly wont do it with a singer from SE asia who most likely has a work visa tied to his continued employment with jrny.

They needed to do that with Steve as well. They have never supported or backed their lead singers. The only question now is whether or not it is too late to learn from their mistakes...

Dean,I will say you have a good theory, but I doubt the Journey machine will not go this route. And speaking of the route they have taken, and you did say JSS was 92 octane, then Arnel must be that new cheaper grade fuel. And it is horrible on transmissions.Eventually shut that motor down.

Schon/Cain do not want anyone to know that SP is not singing. Most casual fans buy tickets to the show assuming they are seeing Journey, not a facsimile. If they promote Arnel, ticket sales plummet. Who wants to see a cover band unless you are a fanatic of the band such as ourselves.

this is sort like asking the priest to confess he has a mistress, so we can tell everyone what a scumbag he is.

If one search "ARNEL PINEDA" you'd be surprised how much circulated he is. Timing is important.

We shall wait till August to see if the experts are correct. Just be man enough to admit when proven wrong! To suggest this is to suggest that SOTTO was himself lippin too!

If im wrong and I wont be, Ill admit it. Soto would never have lipped he would of kick Neals ass first. He knew how to use his voice without burning it out.He was smart enough not to strain to much or hits notes that were impossable for him to sustain. He was a pro not a parot .I wouldnt mention him and Arnel in the same sentence

what i am trying to point out is the fact that ARNEL has a higher register than SOTTO, and if SOTTO went through it without LIPPIN, then it follows that ARNEL who has a higher register will not be LIPPIN it by AUGUST.

the word "TO SUGGEST" in the beginning is a conditional proposition for a debate and not presented as facts!

Do we know a "SOTTO"? C'mon, it's only four letters, S-O-T-O. And "LIPPIN"? Is that some kind of trademark? Or are you speculating about lipping? If you had any credibility then this sort of thing would do ALNER a disservice. Of course, IMO, you don't, but you could show some desire to make the effort.

Some good ideas, Dean. I think they could simplify all of that by merely promoting their new album, doing a few television shows and sing the new songs in concert. But I like the fact that you are calling them to task. They chose to get rid of their last two singers in somewhat unceremonius fashions and now it's time to show us why. Time to answer the bell, boys. Your future in the business depends on it.

o.k. it is spelled SOTO. I apologise to the real Mr. Soto. I am not the one who suggested at first that someone is going to be lipping by AUGUST. Does anybody here understands what a conditional proposition is? did anybody here ever took "argumentation and debate" in school? or logic 101?

NO! I CATEGORICALLY PROCLAIM THAT MR SOTO HAD NEVER LIPPED HIS SONGS! AND NEITHER WILL ARNEL IN A SHORT TIME SPAN!

I just considered the "SOTTO" thing a typo and didn't give it a second thought.

Now, this is where his accent and diction might come into play. I don't know the guy personally, and maybe he is rather smart and charismatic, but to have him on Leno, or some other show, I don't know if he could "hook" an audience. I do know Jeff would have done perfect in the TV show circuit. He could have led the band back into the eyes of America. With AP, the jury is still out.
