I just read in the US Today that Journey has been nominated along with Faster Pusseycat, The Boomtown Rats, George Bensen, Breeze, Freddy Fender, Toniac, & Al Casey for the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Who the hell are some of these people???

Is Freddy(bleeping) Fender rock & roll????

Who in the hell are Toniac & Al Casey?

Boomtown Rats did they sing anything besides that Monday song?

This whole thing is a joke.

Journey should be a shoe in with these other names!!!

Guess Azoff finally ponied up enough green to get Journey on the ballot. The fucking HOF is a joke anyway. I think the Sex Pistols did it right when they told the HOF to go fuck themselves because the HOF wanted to charge them $2500.00 per ticket for family members to come see them inducted.

Dunno about the Pistols being inDUCTED, they should be inDICTED for crimes against music! Their UK live shows this year were appalling!

I told ALL of you cocksuckers they would make it. I am going out on a limb and saying they will finally get in. Jrnyman28 said correctly, it will take VH to get in for Journey to get in.

Yes, the classic lineup deserves this. Cyndy, get Stephen on the horn and tell him to warm up. Make sure Smitty and Greg get there, and leave Deen and fuckin Arnel home. You can't come either Randy, err "dog."

Damn, thats gonna cost Schon alot of money.

So now if they do get in, all these "new fans" will truly think it's because of the arnel fellow.

Journey brings all of their past members, they are gonna need a bigger stage setup than Chicago uses for live performances.

That's because they're a horrendously untalented band. Unbelievably sloppy musicianship, even for a punk band. You need to have SOME semblance of structure to make good music.

Who's going to induct them in? Bruce? Jackson Browne? Fuckin Arlo Guthrie?

I bet Perry is home getting Smoky Robinson on the phone asking him to induct them on stage.

At least Sid wanted it to sound somewhat like actual music.

BTW how the hell are you feeling Dan?

Rolling Stone magazine has been anti Journey since Journey first hit the music scene. Why would now be any different?

Remember the debacle when 'Tap got elected in '98? What a mess. Quite a few of the 37 drummers the band has had either spontaneously combusted, choked on their own vomit, or died in bizarre gardening accidents. Still, there were 28 ex-drummers up there along with Tufnel, St. Hubbins, and Smalls, as well as various keyboardists who have graced the band through the years.

Still, can there be any doubt it was "When a Man Looks Like a Woman" and "Stinkin' Up the Great Outdoors" that were the primary modicums for their ultimate election into the ROR HOF? They won the critics over with "Intravenous DeMilo", to be sure.

For one, the Stones have a concept of what a melody is. Secondly, compared to the Pistols, Mick and the boys are Dream Theater.

That's why I've boycotted that piece of crap publication since 1982. Fuckin' egalitarian ex-hippies.

BTW...doin' OK. Still here. Every day is a struggle right now between my staple of meds and the chemo. Thanks for asking.

Yogi, where in the Hell did you get that list?

I just went on the RnR HOF site. Here are the 2008 inductees:

Leonard Cohen
The Dave Clark Five
Madonna
John Mellencamp
The Ventures

Linda Perry is more likely to take over for Arnel when he gets fired this summer than Steve. NEVER EVER EVER going to happen, tragically enough.

I believe that Journey is in the PRE-nomination phase, inclusive of several dozen acts. The first round of balloting takes them to the top five. So I don't think this is the year that Journey finally gets their dues. The Tawny Kitaen Project and Cannibal Corpse will get into the HOF before Journey does.

I've actually heard of Faster Pussycat. They had a song called "House of Pain" eons ago, that I remember. That said, how the fuck is Faster Pussycat being nominated for the HOF??? Holy shit...I knew this thing was a joke, but this is just comical. I'd like to say this is a great honor for Journey, but based on the track record of the powers that be in "The Mistake By The Lake" (Cleveland for the geographically challenged crowd), I'm not sure it really means anything, at this point!

John from Boston

The Dave Clark Five????
Why??
That guy is one terrible drummer.
What are they pioneers of? Aren't inductees supposed to be pioneers or have influenced people or have I got this wrong?
