I've always thought these songs were similar. Slower drum beats, singing about a woman with a connection to the sea.
I've sometimes wondered if Kiss was inspired by the first one.

Looking Glass - 1972 - Brandy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U8Bheg86hg

"Lonely sailors pass their time away."

Kiss - 1976 - Hard Luck Woman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hy-8UbTY_M

"Sailor's only daughter, a child of the water"

Can you think of songs that aren't covers but have similarities in sounds or themes?

Heart's "Crazy on You" and the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes"... the beginning of both songs - very similar sounding..

Journey- "Escape"
Rush- "Red Barchetta"

Just listen to the middle of both these songs. They have very similar parts that both go

"DRNT! Dudda-dudda-dudda-dudda DRNT! Drnt-drnt-DRNT-drnt, Drnt-DRNT!"

Joe Walsh- "Rocky Mountain Way"
Steve Miller Band- "The Stake"

Thanks all, I'll have to check these out. Escape and Red Barchetta, hmm, never caught it and I've listened to'em a lot, just not back to back. I'll definitely be doing a comparison.

This was done purposely I believe as kind of a tribute. The ending also has The Beatles “Day Tripper” riff playing at the same time as the Stone’s riff if my memory serves me right.

I once heard a clip where three songs from Nickelback were played together. They sounded like one song. It was amazing - same chords, same style AND they complimented each other.

Very wierd!

In my opinion Stanley wrote most of the great Kiss songs. His new album (co wrote by Super Desmond Child) is pretty good . . althoght it only last for 32 minutes. Im a big Stanley fan.

paul has written some great stuff through the years.paul writes the more melodic stuff while gene always writes the more heavy material.i think the paul stanley '78 album is the best of the four kiss solos besides ace frehleys.everytime i look at you from revenge in '92 should've been a number one hit because its a very good song.

I have always thought Bob Seeger's "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", and B.T.O.'s "Takin' Care of Business" seemed like the same song. I happened to see them together long ago. (With Thin Lizzie.)

Then there's Huey Lewis' "I Want a New Drug" and "Ghostbusters".

Really? Didn't know that. Never noticed the Beatles thing cuz I don't listen to them. Wine does have the 2 guitars playing different things though.

To be alive again (off Arrival) = Be good to yourself (ROR)

No doubt an intentional remake in every way.

Actually, I think it's the Stones' "Satisfaction", and the Beatles "Day Tripper".
