This song has been stuck in my head for years now and I haven't been able to figure out what it is, or who it's by. I remember NO words whatsoever, but there's this saxophone line in the song that is absolutely riveting. I heard it on a "classic rock" station, if that helps..
"Dee-dee, da-da-doo-da-doo.... Dee-dee, dadda-dooooo da-dooooo da-dooooo... dadda-dee-dee, dadda-doodeedoo... dah-dee dah dooo doo-dooo doood-ooooo...."
If you get this at at all.
If anyone can find this song for me, I'd be forever indebted to you.

The only well-known song I can think of right off the top of my head that has a sax solo is "Urgent" by Foreigner.

Definitely not "Urgent." Love that song though.

What about something by King Crimson? They have quite a bit of sax work in their earlier stuff.

First thing I thought of was Hall & Oates "Maneater" (da-da-doo-da-doo), but I'm not sure the rest of what you describe really fits. Was it a sax solo, or just a sax line that runs thru the whole song?

I have King Crimson's first two albums, and RED... nothing from any of those.
It's a very mellow, soft-rocky, yacht-rocky type of song... not entirely progressive or anything, very... smooth.

This saxophone hook has been stuck in my head for far too long. I hear it all the time in the back of my head.
There is no feeling like discovering a song you've been seeking. Especially when ya'll helped me out based on nothing but a vague description.
I'm happier than I've ever been now, grooving to this catchy little tune.

The sax at the end of REO's "Say You Love Me or Say Goodnight" is great too, switching off with Richrath's guitar. I think that's about due for a listen.

Good call, captain! I'll fire it up right now.
Rick Springfield covered that song in this album:

It has a little more edge in my opinion. Rick did a good job with it.

Ahh, "Baker Street"! Very cool old song. I used to enjoy listening to that as well as "Right Down The Line". I believe my parents had the 8-track or something.

The Foo Fighters also have a pretty good cover of Baker Street. No saxophone though. Replaced with electric guitar riffs.

I love that whole cd, and love sax in rock music, That's why I love Springsteen. When you hear Clarence break into the sax on Promised Land, it's feel good and inspiring. Andrew, for your sake, and if you don't want to incur my wrath, I expect high regards for
Magic in your end of the year review.

Yeah, I like their cover too. But substituting 'crack' for 'booze' - always thought that was kinda cheesy.

Along with, the birth of a child, a concert high and an orgasm.
