My Collection of Journey Covers

Make note that my title didn't sa good Journey covers. Just Covers. And Deano swears that it's okay for me to post these...so if it's not my apologies....and you can flog him on his birthday (Happy birthday man!)

There are some gems in here that a lot of people will appreciate....and then there's some serious crap....like the guy from the atomic punks singing "Be Good To Yourself" in full David Lee Roth mode. Uh...no. But the Starship, Scandal, and Tommy Shaw stuff is interesting....and the others are decent too... and of course, the JSS is likely the best on the set...but some of these are very MUCH worth listening to at least once. I have a collection of Styx covers I'll likely put together too.

Enjoy

Tommy Shaw - Open Arms
Steve Acho - Faithfully (Acoustic Live)
Starship - Don't Stop Believin'
Scandal - Only The Young
Marq Torrien - Faithfully
Ralph Saenz - Be Good To Yourself
Kory Clarke - Who's Crying Now
Mark Knight - Only The Young
Kip Winger - Send Her My Love
Kelly Hansen - Wheel In The Sky
John Corabi - Girl Can't Help It
Kelly Hansen - Separate Ways
Eric Dover - Don't Stop Believin'
Alex Mitchell - Any Way You Want It
Chaz West - Lovin Touchin Squeezin
Tuff - Lights
Jeff Scott Soto - Send Her My Love

Wow, I'd always meant to check out Shaws version of OA.

I think Tommy's one of the best rock singers ever. His version of this is okay, but it was definitely written for Perry's pipes.

Looks like im going to go through most of these.

Loving the Faithfully, then again its hard to do a bad version of this song . . but not impossible as we sadly found out last year.

Wow. Thank you, dude. What a treasure trove.

Kip Winger's cover is the best. That guy is actually very talented. When he toured "Down Incognito" a few years back (a Border's Book tour, unfortunately), I got the chance to meet him, and my guitarist and I actually had dinner with him. Very humble, just wanted to talk about music...world music, anything, everything. And he is a HUGE fan of SP, which put him up a notch in my book.

Does anyone know of a program which would enable me to convert some of these files into mp3 format? Would be greatly appreciated.

Hey now!

Winger gets a really bad rap and I'm not sure why. Every guy in the band is an extraordinary musician, and even their pop metal dreck on their first two albums are a cut above the rest of the pop metal dreck being put out back then. PULL and IV are two of my favorite hard rock albums put out by any band. Those two releases kick mighty ass, and Kip Winger is everything I wish I could be.

they were lumped into the era, the 'death of glam metal' that happened right before grundge. And ya know what? Hair Metal stands the test of time WAY more than grundge in my book.

1990-1991 was a very interesting time, those of us out of grade school may recall. The hard rock lanscape was changing on it's own without Nirvana's help... but then it all got swept away in the tsunami. Remember School of Fish? King's X? Extreme...

I LOVE King's X.

Some guy from Pearl Jam said that King's X invented grunge. haha.
