OT--Could Chinese Democracy Finally Be Upon Us??

Postby mikemarrs » Thu Jan 10, 2008 6:40 pm

The latest rumor swirling around Guns N' Roses is that the long over-due "Chinese Democracy" is complete and with the label but a new battle has emerged that is causing further delay.

We don't know how much stock to put into third or fourth generation rumors, but the word on the street is that Axl has turned in the CD to Geffen at long last but no release date is in sight because Axl and the label can not agree on the marketing of the album.

Are we closer to Chinese Democracy? We have no idea but we are hopeful. We have yet to hear back with the official denials or "no comment" from the GNR or Geffen camp but we'll keep you posted on what we hear officially or hearsay. Again this is all but rumor at this point , besides rumors are more fun than official news anyway. -

Fark. Who cares anymore.

Even if this album was Physical Graffitti, Rubber Soul, Appretite For Destruction and Dark Side Of The Moon all rolled into one, nothing could live up to a 10+ year wait and all the crap that's come in between.

Axl's solo album is destined to be the biggest flop ever. That's my prediction. The demos feature about 3 or 4 likeable songs and the rest are simply average at best.

I think the "demos" that leaked (which sound pretty much complete to me...I can't imagine the final versions being much different) were fucking great, but there's no way this album can possibly live up to the hype, sadly.

I think if its released, it will sell decently but will be somewhat of a flop, then hopefully about 5 or 10 years later re-evaluated on its own merits rather than as something that has to live up to the hype of it's release.

Benefit of the doubt time...again! If the rest of the album lives up to the quality of the songs Madagascar, There Was a Time and The Blues then we are very much in business.

Whilst this might well be Axl Rose's solo project in many ways the quality of some of the leaked material leads me to believe that Axl was always the real strength behind the Guns 'n Roses writing machine. Much of the new stuff sounds close to Use Your Illusion era Guns whilst every other past member's output sounds generic and pales by comparison - Velvet Revolver anyone...? :?

now i've heard this rumor also where after this album he was going to release something like a double album similar to use your illusion 1 & 2 with the batch of thirty or so outtakes that didn't make the democracy release.this man is going to fuck up his legacy really bad if he releases any new music period.the best thing axl can do is simply bury the fuckin hatchet with slash, duff and izzy and reunite the original guns and go make a half billion dollars.shit man they don't need to fuck off and wait until 2019 or something when they are pushing sixty.shit let bygones be bygones and get this thing back together again.

a guns n roses reunion would damn near be as big as the van halen one.they released a greatest hits CD back in '04 or so and the damn thing has already sold five million in just a few years with no new songs on it.this band was the biggest selling most successful outfit besides metallica and nirvana of the last twenty years or so.i would guarantee the tour would sell out everywhere.with scott weiland getting in trouble again and having trouble being sober and slash and duff being seen photographed with steven and izzy again here lately the signs are there that something might be going on behind the scenes.

I'll never pay for this album, and will never give Axhole a penny of my money. No one else in rock history has abused, jerked around and taken advantage of his fans like Axhole Rose. Screw him, and screw his album.

The only track I have is Better. Do you have that one? I think it's damn good.

I look forward to this when it eventual happend. Classic Rock gave it the best album of the year last year . . which i thought as a bit ridiculous considering they/ve only heard the demos.

A GNR "reunion" is somewhat retarded. They had the Appetite CD, which was HUGE, then a few minor ones... At least Van Halen has 2 seperate "histories" and MANY albums to draw from

The Use Your Illusion albums were also huge. Shame about The Spaghetti Incident, Lies and the seemingly endless greatest hits releases though.

Eliminate all the filler from BOTH albums and you had enough decent stuff for 1 good one

It sucks that Axl and Chinese Democracy will be completely overshadowed by "the wait". I wish we didn't know anything about the CD until NOW. Then we could simply judge ot on it's musical content.

But ultimately....I don't care!

GNR was an important band but I don't think they were a great band. Use your Illusions took GNR WAY too seriously. AFD was a statement but still not a "masterpiece". They were a band of controversy....

BTW, saw Slash on Jimmy Kimmel last night. GREAT interview!

Assel Rose is the first male "female diva" in the rock world. Such an over-rated shlock who's time has come and gone, thank us all.

i wont comment on the time taken for this release as no doubt it has frustrated even the die-hard fans..
However Axl Rose is a very talented song writer and love him or hate him a big personality in the music business..
Definitely a flawed gem IMO.. and the 'biz' whould be a worse place without him.

Personally i look forward to the final release without looking at the history too much. 'The Blues' and 'Better' are fine songs in their own right.

I just hope for some consistencey and some more solid live performances and leave some of the legal 'bullshit' behind..

I think 10 years ago, Chinese Democracy might have had the potential to be a great album but after 10 years it seems to be nothing more than a lame attempt by Axl to dig up his dead career.
