Okay, here's an odd question I've never seen here before...

With all the 'excess' and 'groupies' in the 70's and 80's for bands like Journey, Motley Crue, Kiss, Styx (at least Shaw)- How come none of them ever come to places like Melodic Rock and do the tell all in posts?

With all the people that these bands have 'touched' ;) you'd think that you'd see those stories all over the internet.
Same with drug use...
It's amazing that people that used to provide for these bands aren't all over the place talking about it.

The things you think of while driving to work...

I have heard about Aynsley Dunbar multiple times, and his conga lines of underage lovers...

I saw a website quite some time back - maybe 3 or 4 years ago - and I WISH the hell I could remember it or find it again, but it was a site where groupies posted about their experiences with rock stars. The only thing I recall specifically is that Sebastian Bach (allegedly) doesn't prefer to shower.

Most of the stories, from what I recall were about those hair metal type guys. I'm still hunting for this site - I think I have to ask my sister, she may have been the one who sent it to me. There was one about celebs with posts from people in servie industries (waitresses, etc.) who ratted out the poor tippers and asshole customers in the celebrity world. Gotta find that one too... that was a good one.

A former co-worker told me a couple years ago about a book she read that was written by some infamous groupie who made rounds with all the bands back in the day... she never could remember the name of it or the name of the groupie. I'd still like to find and read that too. Her whole point in telling me was because there was a part in there about someone in Journey. She didn't remember what member, like it'd be hard to guess though!

well, THEY did, but I'm speaking more about just people out there that were the perpetrators.

Heh heh... I like that they have a "penis chart" page.

But... that's a different site. The one I'd seen had actual comments/stories about the rockers.
It may not even be up anymore, like I said, it was about 4 years ago, but I'm still looking.

There is a book out there written by a former groupie.Real stories with the big rock stars,in fact the stories of 24 groupies who ended up in VIP sheets...Very interesting.

Pamela Des Barres : 'Let's Spend the Night Together: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies'

And THIS is really funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnD1_Sx4ZwY

Pamela has written a few books actually. I'm With the Band I believe was the first and most well known.
Very good read for those who are nosy bastards (which is pretty much all of us... ).

yeah, I've seen that one before. pretty funny.
You'd think that not only the sexual encounters would come out, but even just business people dealing with musicians, or drug connections, or whatever. Even with all that Michael Jackson BS, there's never really been a "this is my story. This is what he did to me". Even in an internet posting.

I have read of encounters with Journey members here where people have said various things. I guess that's more the kind of thing that with everyone online these days, I'd expect to see everywhere.

I saw somewhere that BeBe Beule wrote a book recently about her escapades with rockers, including Jimmy Page. She is married to Todd Rundgren and her daughter with Steven Tyler is Liv Tyler. She was a former Playboy bunny way back when.

Ok, as I'm thinking of it - I did hear a story told on Perry, but it wasn't by a groupie or a drug connection...LOL...

It was a story of a meeting in 1980, where Perry was said to have been real arrogant, and the quote was "making out with chicks and bossing people around."

Most of them are dinosaurs who refuse to embrace the internet. They don't know computers or how to type. They don't want to know. They don't care. They're comfortable in their own old style world. Look at the history of Journey's website for cryin' out loud. They just won't embrace a new generation.

Too bad...for them.

Well, true but it's all I got. I got a couple others on him, but they're more of the "heard if from a friend who heard it from a friend who..." so I don't want to go there. (although one involved throwing up, so that alone is funny... but again, that's typical rock star, nothing special...)

And THIS is really funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnD1_Sx4ZwY

I may have to find this book. ;) Here's one read by Patti D. about her time with Cat Stevens! She was an actress I remember and was once married to actor, Don Johnson (Miami Vice). Anyway, she inspired a song by him...which to me would be one of the greatest things to happen (as long as it was a great song) - groupie or not. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlSOcjjf ... re=related

I happened to be reading one of my decorating magazines (Romantic Homes) last night, and on the editors page (titled "Behind the Music" :D) she goes on about love songs in Rock 'n' Roll history such as "Layla" and "Something":

[quote] "Behind the art there is always a muse. though she may not be as splashy as a hit song, fronted by singers who some compare to God, she leaves her man spellbound, fueling a virtuoso. (I've always thought this editor had a strange writing style!) The woman I am referring to is Pattie Boyd, the '60s waif who bedazzled and married both George Harrison and Eric Clapton - the inspiration behind their greatest songs." [unquote]

Anyway, apparently Pattie Boyd has written a book called, "Wonderful Tonight" - if anyone is interested...I doubt it would be a trashy, tacky book considering this particular editor talks about it in her Valentine issue. I always like to hear about the stories surrounding the musicians, the creative process of writing songs, but not interested in the trashy stuff or very personal matters. A book I read around 1980 by John Lennon's first wife was good ("A twist of Lennon"...she was with him before he became a Beatle so it talks about the development of the band and her view watching it from conception to exploding into this wild phenomenon.

It was pretty bad.
Word has it Perry had a pretty serious puppet fetish, hence the Mr. Roger's thing Rhi mentioned.

He really had a hard on for King Friday... that's why he dressed that way in his Oh Sherrie video.
Not many people know that.
