OT: Best albums of 1987

Postby conversationpc » Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:03 pm

87 was perhaps the best year of the 80s for music, in my opinion. Which of these is your favorite from that year, twenty years ago?

I voted for "Pride" by White Lion. Still one of my favorite albums and Vito Bratta's playing on that album was his best, in my opinion.

INXS Kick
Appetite Hysteria

top 3

barely missing cut: Aerosmith Permanent Vaca., Jacko's BAD (say what you will, that is an AWESOME record, maybe his best)
"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990
"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001

Yep, i liked the White Lion album, but i'm sure this was the year that Bryan Adams released Into The Fire - so that would get my vote - Eternal Idol by Sabbath maybe as well..

What a list! My vote, hands down, is for "Hysteria". I thought it was the best melodic rock album, ever. After watching the documentary on the making of "Hysteria", it's not surprising that it turned out as well as it did. The guys in Def Leppard, along with Mutt Lange weren't going to be satisfied with "Hysteria" until it was pretty damn near perfect. There were a couple of tracks I didn't care for, but on the whole, it was SUPERB!

John from Boston

p.s. For Def Leppard fans...Pick up the DVD titled "Historia". There is a GREAT acoustic version of "Hysteria" , with just Joe Elliot and Phil Collin. Joe's voice sounds quite strong, and there are ZERO artificial enhancements.

There were several I could pick, but I liked more songs off Hysteria. Plus, it brings back some fabulous memories...

Actually, hold on...the Joshua Tree is in there, too what a monster.

Where The Streets Have No Name, the best song they ever recorded.

With Or W/out You, In God's Country, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, One Tree Hill, Exit, all incredible.

What a genius The Edge is, this one might be a notch above Kick for me.

Probably the Whitesnake S/T, though I had to check your list to ensure you'd included "Back For The Attack". "Kiss O' Death", baby, YEAHHH!!! :P

Motley's Girls, Girls, Girls might be better than all these.

Definately the best of the unlisted of '87.

Where's Foreigner's Inside Information??? That's also better than half the list.

Make some adds up there, Colnel.

Ooo, Overlooked Bruce's Tunnel Of Love...Daveo, you're right what a banner year that was.

The title track is the best Bruce song ever cut, it's got 2 Faces, One Step Up (one of the few ballads I actually love and cherish in all of music), Brilliant Disguise, Walk Like A Man, Cautious Man, Tougher Than The Rest, Valentines Day, damn what an album....grabbing it right now; good work, daveCt

Get T-Bone to delete it and start another.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

No way, gotta do it, Daveo...it's worthwhile. Get all the great '87s on there, rock, metal, pop, etc.

And I did! :P I actually didn't see it at first and was going to remind you, but I caught it on 2nd glance. You also need to add Don's solo album "Up From The Ashes"... Sure, it came out in 1990, but it transcends time, and therefore absolutely belongs in the list. :P
