Seriously...Who here likes Dokken?
Two of my favorite albums by anyone are "Under Lock and Key" and "Back for the Attack". BFTA is a bit heavier, which I like, but ULAK is nearly as good. "Tooth and Nail" has several good songs on it as well but Don's vocals were a bit stiff for me up to that point. He finally put some emotion into it on ULAK.

Dokken has some kick-ass tunes for sure! They have had a few shitty albums that I didn't follow (I'm talking about the more recent albums), but their last studio release was pretty awesome!!! I really liked Norum's (I think that's who it was anyway!) solo's. He's definitely got Lynch's solos down!
While I liked the last album, I still don't think it was anywhere near what it COULD have been. I guess budget, record label, and management all play a role in that as well though.

Haha! The only Dokken album I don't care as much for was "Shadowlife", but I bought it again just a week ago and am giving it another listen. I also wasn't that into "Dysfunctional". Those the the two albums that sound the least like Dokken, so I guess that just goes to say. I love all the recent albums -- great melodic rock masterpieces, even if they aren't always as heavy as old-school Dokken. And Jon Levin has filled the Lynch spot quite nicely!
Ok, two sides of the coin... KNAC interviewed both Don Dokken and later George Lynch, and it's quite the "he said, she said"!

Umm... I believe George!

I thought Don came off as more believable and easily so.

The only albums I have had are Tooth and Nail and Under Lock and Key. And Tooth and Nail got stolen out of my car - while at the Motorhead concert! That's how I roll... Motorhead and Dokken!
I liked those albums I had.
I am looking forward to the next Dokken album with Jeff Scott Soto on it!

Really? I've always suspected his takes on things, and his stories are a little martyrish... George said it came down to money really, and that I find pretty believable. There were several things in Don's interviews that I just found hard to take at face value, such as a comment about how after the "Shadowlife" sessions were done, George admitted that he wanted to destroy Dokken with that album and ensure they had no more fans left. I'm thinking George is more believable on that one... at least he admitted to being "psycho" on the bus during the "Shadowlife" tour...

Man, you need "Back For The Attack"! Starts off with another killer Don Dokken U-Done-Me-Wrong song, "Kiss of Death", about some chick who lures him into the sack and gives him AIDS....

The title... "Someone Gets Their Ass Handed To Them By Don Dokken"

When I first saw it, I thought of it as a great base avatar that I could tinker with... Stay tuned, because you never know what you might get handed by Rip Rokken! That DD in 3D maneuver is killer! So is CPC's picture, which I've saved on my hard drive with the title "Dokkitude"...

It will also show up at some point in the future!
There is some dude on the Metal Sludge boards that goes by "Dong Dokken"...

GEORGE LYNCH all the way!! Don has a great voice, No stage presence. I was a fan from Breaking thru Dysfunctional. I just prefer GL on his own, I wish he would just stick w/ a solid Lynch Mob lineup.
His new group, Souls Of We might be interesting.

Lynch sucks! I saw him open for Yngwie back in 04 and Lynch was just horrible,,,,
Norum was much better. I think "Up From The Ashes" was a good album.

That's from the "One Live Night" DVD and CD, and it's great. Jeff is an awesome singer and performer, and it was good for him to tackle those songs. I have a hard time believing Don that Jeff "got sick of singing those songs", though I do believe he wanted to sing more lead. Don's live voice is shot every time I see him, and his range on the studio albums keeps dropping. Here is an example:

The players sound awesome, though!

Funny video interview with Don...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdGu6Nt9PPI
In it, he talks about sleeping with a caribou, Wal Mart, how many chicks want to shoot him, how much money he has, and at one point he actually says, "We stink! Haha...."

I've honestly never listened to Dokken before, what's a good album to start with?
