OT: Hannah Montana

Another pathetic story on what passes for music and live shows these days. Kids these days are musically retarded.

Hannah Montana caught using body double
NEW YORK (AP) — It was ever so brief, but the use of a body double by Miley Cyrus on her best-selling "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus 'Best of Both Worlds'" tour is creating plenty of buzz.

A video posted on YouTube shows the 15-year-old entertainer as "Hannah" dancing onstage with a group of dancers and the Jonas Brothers, also on the tour. During the song, someone ushers her offstage via a trap door. Immediately, another girl dressed like the character "Hannah" in the same pink trench coat with blonde hair covering her faces dances around, runs up the stage set, and then quickly leaves.

While the double is holding a microphone for her less than a minute, the girl motions like she is singing. However, a rep for Miley said the switch was only for costume purposes.

"To help speed the transition from Hannah to Miley, there is a production element during the performance of We Got the Party incorporating a body double for Miley," according to statement Friday from the public relations firm PMK.

"After Hannah has completed the featured verse on the duet with the Jonas Brothers, a body double appears approximately one to two minutes prior to the end of the song in order to allow Miley to remove the Hannah wig and costume and transform into Miley for her solo set. Other than during this very brief transitional moment in the show, Miley performs live during the entirety of both the Hannah and Miley segments of the concert."

Miley's "Hannah Montana" tour is one of the nation's hottest tours, selling out within minutes when tickets went on sale last fall. Some people have been reselling tickets for thousands of dollars. Miley has released two albums under the "Hannah Montana" brand, both of which have sold more than two million copies.

Don't fuck with Hannah Montana, NIG. I like that show. Getting ready to watch it 52 minutes. Good kid. I'm glad she's enjoying such success. Good for her.

I saw that article yesterday and thought about posting it, but it sounded like it's sort of a necessary part of the show. Hope dad brings that girl up right, because the next step a label will do to her career is to start pushing her into sleaze, ala Britney, Christina and Jessica S. They do it every time.

Lip synching is sure to rear it's ugly head eventually, too.

So what? When your audience is 8-13 years old it's acceptable and almost inferred. If she ever wants to be a true artist well then that's different. Right now, she's just a good, wholesome, talented little girl making hay while the sun's shining. And the fact that her father is there for her every step of the way makes me root for her even more. This is a great story...so far.

My niece is crazy about her. I think she's a great role model for young girls. So what she uses a body double for like a minute or two. People who trash other people are usually just jealous because they have nothing going on.

Cool stage, awesome drum riser and good vocals. I could've sworn I saw Kevin Elson. Good for her. That place looked packed.

So was Jessica Simpson's father, a former youth minister, and what a creepo he's turned out to be! Great work, dad, and great comments about your daughter's rack...

Hopefully Billy Ray will do a better job, but eventually, she'll turn 18 and the labels will start pushing her to writhe around on a stripper pole with snakes. I remember an interview w/Ann Wilson from Heart where she mentioned that to make it in pop music today, you have to be a pole dancer. Keep an eye on your kid, Billy Ray!

LOL... I don't have any faith in the industry, though I wish all those girls well. Fame at too young an age is very tough to deal with...

I always spelled it "skeezed"... :P

I don't follow... Do you mean faith that you can rewind and pause on pop-star nipple slips if/when they occur? :P I bet there was a lot of rewinding/pausing going on during the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident.

What about "sleazed"? Miley seems like a cool kid. That song she and Billy Ray do, "Ready, Set, Don't Go" makes me cry everytime I hear it because it is exactly what I'm putting my own Daddy through right now. And, apart from that, my friends have four kids and I had the esteemed priviledge of taking them to the Hannah Montana show in Charlotte last month. It wasn't that bad. Most of the poppy singers have been lipping and using tapes and shit since I was younger than Miley, so that isn't any new revelation at all. 8)

I took my daughter to see Hannah Montana last week and I have to say it was quite entertaining. I'm with St. John. I think she is a nice clean cut kid and a good role model. For now. Hopefully she has parents that will steer her in the right direction!

I'm with you SJ, so far Miley is doing okay. Its bubble gum pop all the way and if I were Miley (or Billy Ray, for that matter), I'd put the money in a trust and in two years (the average "run" for a teeny bopper star) she'll have enough to go to college.

And frankly, if I was a little girl all into Hannah Montana I wouldn't care less about any lip-syncing.

I was forced (and I mean forced) to watch the show while my daughter was getting her hair and make up done for her wedding. I watched it with three little girls under the age of six and they were enraptured.

I had fun watching Emily Osment - looks like her brother!

My daughter is as well.. I think she's great and we both sit here and watch her shows. :)

I just hope she doesn't follow in the same foot steps as Britney Spear's sister. The price of fame at a young age can be brutal. :?

I took my daughter when she played here in Los Angeles. I am partially still in shock, but it was a really good show  They had a very cool stage show w/pyros, and a running stage out in the middle. They were actually playing and singing. I had forgotten that she was only 14 years old. She looked very mature, and quite the little hottie. I am sure that the Dad's were fine with it :D

I was also really surprised to see how many older teenagers were there. Which I thought was pretty cool considering they don't have much else to pick from these days for good new music. I would totally go see either one of these bands again, if my daughter wants to go.

Bye-4-Now,

Tracie
