Definitely 89' was a strange year for me due to the fact that I was living in Japan by that time for three years and loosing touch with the music scene back in the U.S. slightly. I was pretty much listening to what my girlfriend liked which was a mixure of Japanese artists and some outside Japan such as Heart, Guns & Roses, Richard Marx, etc. So with that in mind, I chose the one that I did like and the one we would play a lot of during that year which is on the list of choices.....Richard Marx.

I personally was listening to a lot of Tesla and Skid Row, but Henley wins this one, in a landslide! "The End of the Innocence" was phenomenal!

So into the hairbands of the late 80s.......I know, shocking!

I'm a sucker for a soaring ballad or great hooks.....still am.

This was the hardest one for me to choose out of all of the polls so far. Presto is my favorite Rush cd, but Full Moon Fever is one of my favorites as well. Tesla, Whitesnake, Henley. This was the first year of me out and on my own, first year out of college, in my first real radio job and most of these albums and the songs on them have so many incredible memories.
Btw...I had to go with Presto.

Hey - Me too! I don't remember listening to a lot of these records during my senior year though. We were still quite into Guns N Roses, Journey's Greatest Hits, and Pink Floyd.
My faves from the year:
Outfield | Voices of Babylon
Tears for Fears | Sowing the Seeds of Love
De La Soul | 3 Feet High and Rising
[edited because Black Crowes actually came out in 1990...Whoops!]

God this thread brings back memories!! I joined the US Navy in 1989. In boot camp we had no radio or MTV. I remember- about five us of would sit there in the barracks during our free time and sing rock albums in our horrible voices. I certainly remember the five us singing alot of the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels album, the Skid Row Album, and Tesla. Don Henley might have had the best album out that year , but those songs were far to pensive and melancholy for our purposes. He never hit our "airplay".
I also seem to remember us doing a daily rendition of Vixens Edge of a Broken Heart, as I think our thoughts were contantly on breaking out of boot camp and riding around on motorcycles with hot chicks like Jan Kuhnnemnd and Roxy Petrucci. I think that album was a 1989 album as well???
