OT: McCartney "Jazz Hands" video

"Ever Present Past", my favorite track off "Memory Almost Full". I check the video and it looks like they ripped off Napoleon Dynamite's dance and jazz hands skit. Only thing they're missing are the moon boots.

Thanks StoneCold I hadn't seen this one yet.
I like it largely, wish I could find out what flute sounding
instrument it is that's heard throughout the song.
Hmmmmmm..........

There's some interesting sounds in the background there. One sounds like it was from Strawberry Fields Forever.

Even though they didn't play on it, this would've been a good tune to have Ringo, Julian, Sean and Dhani Harrison as a faux Beatles band video.

You have to hand it to Paul. All these years, and at 64 yrs. old now, he has stayed relevant in the music business. I used to have a major schoolgirl crush on him as the "cute" Beatle. Now, I just adore the guy. Those sneakers he's wearing in the video gave me the chuckles. I recall seeing him in those very sneakers in a photo of him and John in "their" schoolkid days, before they took the music world by storm. Gosh, that's a 50-year time span.

It might be a flugelhorn

Amazing that he's been able to keep the music flowing. Makes me hate Lennon's killer all the more. Lennon would've continued to put out genius work.

Check out a clip from Paul in Amoeba Records in L.A. last year. Ringo was in the audience instead of on the kit!

That was great, StoneCold. Paul is a very down-to-earth person, despite all the dirt that is coming out about him now due to his divorce battle. When he and Heather were still married, a couple of years back, there would be a story from time to time in the Life section of my local (Reno, NV) paper about sightings of them up at Lake Tahoe. Apparently, they like to go do some skiing during lulls in Paul's touring schedule. At night, they would hang out among the commoners sitting in a favorite pub, listening to live music. Paul would be very cool and would shout out song requests toward the stage to the musicians. And it's never a Beatles tune or one of his own. It's always an old favorite, like a Chuck Berry or James Brown song, for instance.

Ahhhh that's like Heaven On A Sunday, thanks StoneCold.

I'd have to say my fave Paul memory was back in 2002.
My Aunt and Uncle took Hubby Bub and I to see him and
I was 8 months pregnant for our second son who was born
the day after Paul's birthday......yup that was the best for me.

Thanks Cate, I'm still trying to find out what it is.
When I do, I'll let you know if you were right.

I bet the bands were nervous as hell to be playing requests for a real Beatle. :D

Mills, I don't believe anything coming from her. She could be telling the truth but she's shot her reputation all to hell in this fiasco. At least he hasn't let it affect his music.

Glad to hear he doesn't request his own stuff. I've read he's a perfectionist when it comes to recording music so few bands could do the Beatles justice. Wonder if he ever heard Delp's Beatlejuice?

I think "20 Flight Rock" was the song he played for Lennon at one of their first meetings.

Thanks so much for this link - it was my first time seeing the video. I bought "Memory Almost Full" the day it came out.

I was born too late: when Paul married Linda I was single, but only twelve. Then Linda died but I was married. Then Paul remarried so we were both married. Now Paul is single and I'm still married.....

Definitely a case of the stars not lining up in our favor..... :D

Hey, he's only 14 years older than me!

Hey mistiejourney Sir Paul is one year older than my Father was.
I still think at 65 the man has it.

He's 24 or 25 older than Heather so you would've been a better match. :)

Hey, he's only 12 years older than me :) . And I'm married, too.

Kim, do you remember that day in 1965 when they played at Candlestick Park? The whole city was like on the verge of bubbling over with excitement. I was only 10 years old, but I was already hooked by Beatlemania the year before watching them in A Hard Day's Night. God, that music that they were playing, it was like the most beautiful thing I've ever heard.

Cate I did find a few mentions about the song and
you were right, it is a flugelhorn he plays in the song.
There is also a harpsichord in there too.

Paul is God.
I'm not too wild about "Ever Present Past" for some reason. There is a web site out there that shows how bands play their songs. Paul did a spot on the site and it shows him laying down all the tracks (Drums, Bass, Guitar, etc.). I think the site is http://showmehowtoplay.com/. Unfortunately, I don't see the videos anymore. It was pretty cool.

Best track on the new album is "Only Mama Knows". GREAT rock tune from Paul, who is 65 (not 4).
The guy's gift for melody is truly inspirational. I wish he'd take more time on some of his lyrics though.
