Hilary Duff pulled an Ashley Simpson at her recent concert in Mexico, when a technical glitch and bad timing seemed to expose her lip-synching. At the beginning of her performance, the young star started singing, but her mic was turned off, so she masked the whole situation with a little dancing until her backing track came on. Luckily for her Mexican fans, there was no awkward jumping or embarrassing stage exit.

Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana Uses Body Double

The massively popular Miley Cyrus plays 'Hannah Montana' on TV, so she's an actress. She is also a singer who plays to sold-out arenas. Unfortunately she seems to be an actress on those occasions as well. As this video makes very clear, Billy Ray's daughter steps off stage for a few minutes and is replaced secretly by a body double. Not only does this mean that they are fooling the audience into thinking it's her when it's not, but that the whole shebang must be lip-synched. The kids are understandably upset. No wonder the young ones today - don't believe in anything. Nothing is real.

Performers (not actually performing and yet, using steroids to enhance their perfomances), athletes using steroids, and teachers having sex with their students -AND, everyone's got a gun - it must be scary out there these days.

"Hannah Montana" plays to fucking 7-13 year olds. The "stage" part of the show is important. She wasn't trying to hide anything. That is the only way she can change mid-song. Let the kids enjoy her shows. Sesame Street On Ice is lip-synched too. You gonna go after them, too?

The Miley Cyrus thing is a complete non-issue. Makes for great headlines and nothing more.

Hilary has been lipping for years. She cannot sing live at all.

Believe me, those kids aren't going to experience a life-altering aural presentation. They're going to see their idols. Kids don't really develop any kind of deeper appreciation for artistry until junior high at the earliest for most. In the mean time these Tweeny-boppers are caught up in the attraction of marketing schemes and brands that are hot at the moment. They're all about the craze. Big deal Miley had a body double... she's 15 and on a rigorous tour, I can't see how she does it. The Duffster lipping, big whoop. She's not exactly big cheese out there anymore, and when she was, it was because she had to be. Kids don't care, they just want the T-Shirt to show off at school the next day. And that's cool.

the sesame street "characters" do not promote themselves as singers - just residents of a make-believe street

if this is the only way she can change mid-song, maybe the production number needs to be re-thought.
