Steve Perry and Extreme!!!

Postby fanofjourney1 » Thu Jan 17, 2008 6:08 am

I heard from a relaible source that Steve Perry came down to the studio to hang with Extreme as they recorded their new record. They recorded the record at NRG Studios in LA and Steve was literally there everyday for 2 weeks! He is a huge fan of the band and just wanted to hang out and "absorb the vibe." The band supposedly welcomed his presence with open arms.

That doesn't surprise me. He's buddies with Nuno and he's known for hanging around other musicians as they do studio work. Don't see how this is a big deal? Now if he was singing with them, that would be something.

Nuno and Perry WERE supposedly working together (I believe we all had the impression it was Nuno working with Perry) but we have never heard a follow-up of that ONE statement.

No, that was settled. Bettencourt himself said he was writing with Steve when he was interviewing about his new band/collaboration with Perry Farrell. This was about 8 months ago or so.

I think the question now is, was the writing intended for Steve to sing or for Nuno to use with other singers/bands? Seems like the latter to me. I think Perry is content to write for others as a creative outlet. Who knows? That new Extreme album might have a song or two with a Perry writing credit on it.

Personally, I think if the man isn't going to sing anymore, he should produce. First person I nominate to collaborate with in such a fashion:

Jeff Scott Soto :D

Thought it would be interesting to take a tour of the NRG studios.Impressive list of clients (nice pics of all) and state-of-the-art recording studios (the equipment lists are killer. )

I'm sure Extreme's album will sound fabulous. That's what I expect considering this place.

Oh, well you're all over it then. Writing with perry while talking about a collaboration with Perry Farrel.

:|

The question for me now is "Do I care?"

This is assuming, of course, that Nuno wasn't using the term "writing" extremely loosely. LOL!

Here's what I picture:

Perry: Where's the waitress... I want more fries.
Nuno: Hey man, question... I'm stuck on this line... what sounds better... 'night' or 'light'?
Perry: Night. Pass the salt.

Two months later... "Yeah, I was writing with Steve Perry..."

It will be a hidden track, then added as a bonus track on the remaster in 2014.

Don't believe this. Why would a East Coast band record in LA? Will check into this, I have a source with the band...
