Sack of shit President should have been impeached in 2003. Somebody please give him a blowjob so we can impeach the bastard, OK? And please, finally, don't throw back some B.S. about the "liberal media" because no-one other than the most devoted neo-cons is buying that load of crap anymore.

WASHINGTON - A study by two nonprofit journalism organizations found that President Bush and top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the national security threat from Iraq in the two years following the 2001 terrorist attacks.

The study concluded that the statements "were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses."

The study was posted Tuesday on the Web site of the Center for Public Integrity, which worked with the Fund for Independence in Journalism.

The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period. It found that in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues, Bush and administration officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them or had links to al-Qaida or both
.

"It is now beyond dispute that Iraq did not possess any weapons of mass destruction or have meaningful ties to al-Qaida," according to Charles Lewis and Mark Reading-Smith of the Fund for Independence in Journalism staff members, writing an overview of the study. "In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the basis of erroneous information that it methodically propagated and that culminated in military action against Iraq on March 19, 2003."

Named in the study along with Bush were top officials of the administration during the period studied: Vice President Dick Cheney, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan.

Bush led with 259 false statements, 231 about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 28 about Iraq's links to al-Qaida, the study found. That was second only to Powell's 244 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 10 about Iraq and al-Qaida.

The center said the study was based on a database created with public statements over the two years beginning on Sept. 11, 2001, and information from more than 25 government reports, books, articles, speeches and interviews.

"The cumulative effect of these false statements — amplified by thousands of news stories and broadcasts — was massive, with the media coverage creating an almost impenetrable din for several critical months in the run-up to war," the study concluded.

"Some journalists — indeed, even some entire news organizations — have since acknowledged that their coverage during those prewar months was far too deferential and uncritical. These mea culpas notwithstanding, much of the wall-to-wall media coverage provided additional, 'independent' validation of the Bush administration's false statements about Iraq," it said.

Bill Clinton got a blow job in a lapse of judgement and was impeached.

George Bush spoke lies that caused the deaths of 4,000 USA soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraq citizens, not to mention the horrible torture inflicted upon millions of displaced and wounded victims. He was not impeached.

the thing that scares me is that bush just passed a law giving him full powers to cancel the presidential elections if another terrorist attack happens before he leaves office.that means if an attack happens he would be president indefinitely.

I say Rudy or Mac in 08 baby!

I don't know how the last seven years got so retarded and flubbed up, but the Democrats taking control in 06 is part of it, and the previous 6 years have been the simple case of the media reporting the news wrongly. CNN, MSNBC are communist bastards. Fox News gets it. They show long legged newswomen who deliver the news righteously!

Dude, you need a W Bumper sticker?

Is that anyway to treat the leader of the Free World? Regardless of what Mr. Bush may or may not have done properly, the office in which he holds shall be respected to it's ultimate limit!

That bj turned the Oval Office into no more than a trailer park...or as some of us know, the back seat of an Arkansas State Trooper patrol car. Bill Clinton totally desecrated what we as patriotic tax payers consider to the be the "holy alter of the free world". Now then, I won't wholly condone Bush's politics, but our tax money for a couple of centuries now has maintained the White House as the icon of the free civilized world. Bill Clinton treated it not much better than the local 'no-tell-motel'. THAT, was the problem.

I'm a Marine. I've had Brothers die all around the world...and again, I don't necessarily agree with the current state of Iraq. However, we've all fought and died for what America stands for. If it's any consolation at all, at least dignity has been restored to the White House. The current resident might very well have blood on his hands - as do we all that support him - but at least we don't have snail trails on interns clothing...how weak & shallow that the leader of the free world can't keep his pants on! Shame.

First off, thanks for your service. I appreciate it; now regarding your post-

Nice try. Clinton just got caught. NO ONE fucking died because of it.

You go ahead and support that motherfucking liar and his good buddy Dick Cheney.

Let me ask you, would you fight for this country if those two sonsofbitches told you too? Let me anwer my own question. I wouldn't. I would proudly go to prison rather than fight for a fucking scumbag like W and Cheney.

I told my son who is 17 yrs old and wants to join the military...either you wait til Bush and Cheney are out of office or I'll break your fucking foot so you can't go die in a desert wasteland based on a fucking lie. He tore up his application. Best parenting I have ever done in 18 years.

The best parenting I did was convincing my younger brother (who is 19) to move to Canada in case Evil Dick and Curious George re-commenced the Draft. However, he was only mollified until I accidentally let on Bachmann-Turner Overdrive is from north of the border...so he joined the Marines.

P.S. To all my conservative friends on this board...this was a pathetic attempt, albeit in a self-effacing vein, at humour...at no point have I ever disclosed BTO are Canucks.

I cannot see how murder can be justified on the basis of principle. This is the same type of fundamentalistic justification that Al Qaeda used when they murdered over 3,000 innocent people on 9/11. How can you say that murdering masses of innocent people is in any way better than what Bill Clinton did? I would much rather see the office of the president get desecrated than to see horrific murder and torture of innocent people.

...ad infinitum...

How many of those "lies" were linked to bad intelligence that almost every other country believed also? Those would be understandable. If they were flat-out real lies then, yeah, that's not a good thing, obviously.

No copy and paste rebuttal here. But it would be interesting to know if YOU checked out this story for veracity or if you just believed it on the spot because it makes Bush and his administration look bad.

There is no "dignity" in lying. All GWB has done is take the office and use it for his own purposes, helping all of his oil industry buddies make record profits. That's what people are dying for in Iraq.

I wish there was one person in the current race who displayed consistent dignity and integrity.

Below is a link to an interesting story that adds further credence to the statement that the current president is a liar. How this man has ever done anything to restore honor to the White House is something I will never understand. He is arguably the worst president in the history of this country.

The very idea that there are actually Americans who are blindly zealous enough to condone the Bush regime's atrocities and think Bill Clinton getting a blow job is a worse offense to the Oval Office and the American integrity may be the most frightening thing to me about the situation this country is in right now.

If this was the predominant attitude in this country how far would we be from a military dictatorship, a religion based government, or some combination of the two? How far is the gun and religion base of the republican party from that right now? They harp on about less government and keeping the government out of our lives, but yet they are the party who think we should be required to share their militaristic convictions and/or want to legislate their religious beliefs into the laws by which we're all expected to live.

I've read posts on this board by people who say we should honor and support Bush for no other reason than because he's our President in a time of war. A war that he started on a lie. Image Uh heeelllooo, when did this become North Korea?

We were listening to a morning new show one weekend talking about way religion could impact the upcoming elections. They mentioned Mormons, Evangelicals, Catholics, Jews, and main stream Protestants. My husband asked me if it had occured to me how much that probably sounded to the Iraqis just like their Suniis, Shi'ites and Kurds sound to us.

Think about it. We're supposed to support a corrupt administration just because they're the administration in power and religion may decide what our next administration will be. Image

We all thought there were WMD's. I don't recall anyone on this board being against taking out Saddam on the basis of there NOT being WMD's.

The war was fought wrong after Saddam's removal and the admin was terribly stubborn for too long. But at least there are some positives we can take out of this war (unlike Vietnam). No Saddam and sons, Khadafi giving up his weapons program after seeing Saddam's fate, no terrorism sponor money coming for the Iraqi government to Hezbollah or Hamas anymore, drawn majority of Al Queda's attention away from an attack here (at least it appears and an argument can be made for).

Give the admin an F for their post removal strategy and stubborness (up until the surge), but I still think it was a good thing taking out a perceived threat in a post 9-11 world.

I also give W a helluva lot of credit for trying to at least partially privatize Social Security. Someone my age (34) will put 50 years of money into that bitch and won't see a dime. I should be able to invest some of it myself so I don't have to work until I die.

I also gime W credit for having a diverse staff, without being Pro-Affirmative Action. Nothing worse than that PC BS!

No, I'm more of the type of person who doesn't believe the hype, I'd rather gather all the facts 1st & make my own mind up than be told what's supposed to be real & just accept it as truth :)

Which reminds me, the part I meant about the war was part 3 more than 2, it's all about money & oil or oil & money, I guess one doesn't really come before the other!

You are SO wrong it isn't even funny. The Democrats got the exact same info the President did, from the CIA, which is NO FRIEND to the Bush administration, as well as from French, German and British intelligence.

They made their statements for the same reason the President did.

Interesting to see if they do a study about what the Democratic leadership said about the way, oh wait...they won't because this so called "think tank" is a bastion of liberalism. If a Republican "think tank" came up with the same thing about the Democrats you would be dismissing it as lies and propaganda.

Learn to see past your hatred for Bush and realize that ALL POLITICIANS LIE. It comes with being in POLITICS...say anything...and deny you said it later.

The CIA is no friend to the President. Um, dude, stop making excuses. Bush held over that asshole Tenet because he liked him. Forget Bush's daddy ran the CIA?

I mean seriously, aren't you folks embarrassed to have defend an incredibly retarded political party and a doofus of a leader? Come on?
