Question

I remember the other day someone saying we shouldn't be making fun of the homosexual community. This piqued my interest somewhat to find out why.

I spoke at length with one of my customers who is an "out" homosexual and as gay as all possible stereotypes could ever portray.

I asked him point blank why we should not make fun of homosexuals when this is the mental picture most of us have:

Guy down on all fours gnawing on his pillow while his significant other is laying it to him from behind and their nutsacs are playing slapsies underneath.

How the hell is that not funny and why in the world should I NOT make fun of it?

It's not funny & maybe you shouldn't be thinking about it so much or making it an issue on a Journey Forum...

8)

It's about as funny as teens getting pregnant but at least the gay population is a sort of inert birth control.
Think of it as some strange evolutionary form of birth control
when the world is overpopulated already
whom is to say in what form you can love?

We used to think the world was flat & the sun rotated around us too...then a round earth would be funny
& imagine how many sailed the oceans afraid to fall off.

Last we saw this was a Journey forum & Andrew gives us alot of room to broaden our horizons
but let's try not to abuse his hospitality.

Not abusing anyone's hospitality. Just trying to "broaden" my horizons as you put it. I would like an honest to god answer.

Socialized taught norms
rule of behavior & conduct
instituted to try to keep order
in a world full of chaos work for the majority.

Why do we have mental illness & cancer?
Just saw a program on lobotomies
They used to think it was a good idea to
stick a icepick into your brain through your eye sockets...
Sure this didn't cure you
but it made you quiet...

Still there are those who desperately feel like the opposite sex
stuck in the wrong body that almost want to die rather than live like that.

It's true
it seems the fundamental purpose for all organisms is to procreate
from the smallest virus & bacteria to man
If everyone was gay
then man would die out in under a century

Something goes wrong
Maybe its best they don't have children
Still it's there right
That I would have to argue with
but then we get into that gray area
who's to say who is good enough to have children?
What about the mentally retarded?
Probably not a good idea!
but then what about if you have diabetes
or are blind or short?
Who's to say who can have children
or a man has to love a woman
no one is perfect
& everyone deserves to be loved...

This world is sure not perfect
but its pretty good & it's all we got!

Good one.

Bottom line, like anything else, things are funny to a certain extent. But when they start coming from a place of mean-spiritedness and even hate, that's where the problems start. I crack gay jokes on my homosexual friends and relatives all the time and they even do it too, and they know my true feelings, so it's alright. I even had that conversation with my sister and her girlfriend about this, and to be honest, the two of them are usually the ones who start it. But I know they don't care because they know I love them both, and they even think I'm hilarious so it doesn't bug them. Believe me they think the same things about us. They think it's just as funny (or odd, or whatever) that I go for dick.

(and while we're at it, what is it about me or my posts that causes you people to PM me and ask me if I'm a chick? Just wondering because I get that a lot... the answer is yes, I'm a chick, hence the name "bluejeangirl"... 'k, thanks)

But when you have people who truly hate, to the point of disassociating with gays (or whatever group is in question) and even protesting... let's say those horrible people who showed up to Matthew Shepards funeral, or the bastards who beat up Teena Brandon and later killed her... well then obviously it's not okay and not funny.

For the most part, I say as long as it's not truly hateful, then fine, make fun. EVERYthing gets made fun of. Every group of people in some way becomes a comedic target at one time or another. People need to be able to laugh at themselves and lighten up about things.

I love to have fun as much as anyone
but just saying sometimes there are better ways to use our precious energy & time...

I think people make fun becasue it makes them nervous & they don't understand.
Just human nature.

I will surprise many here.

I have NO problem with the gay community. They are people. They are Americans. Nothing wrong with what they do in the bedroom. I am not bothered at all by their sexual preferences. I do laugh at the stuff that makes fun of them, but absolutely no hate from me against gays.

Things like this should be PC....

Q: How does a gay man fake an orgasm??

A: Flicks warm yogurt over his lover's back.

OR

Q:What's the difference between a gay man and a microwave???

A: A microwave doesn't brown your meat.

My gay friends found these to be funny as hell. I see no problem with it.

Please. This was meant more to get reactions. Just because one person found it funny..so what.
Exactly the problem with a lot of things today..you said it..stereotyping. We somehow have learned beliefs about certain type of people. Society and things likek this put thoughts into our heads as soon as we hear something like 'gay'
I have met many people that you'd never be able to tell were gay.
What you wrote of your description of what 'gay' is..that's just not helping any situations of stereotyping. That way of thinking and teaching right there is exactly where many hate crimes come from.
And no..before someone says..you must be gay to be thinking this way..no..I am just one who think it's time to grow up and learn and quit things like this.
People think starting topics off of off colored things is funny. Time to grow up.

No where in my original post was there even a hint of sarcasm and I have remained respectful at all times throughout this thread and yet you come in here acting like an ass. Who needs to grow up here? I asked a serious question and qualified it with an actual conversation I had with one of my Gay customers. He found it hysterically funny. Apparently he needs to grow up too, according to you.

Then I guess my sis and her gf need to grow up too. Those two spent 15 minutes at a restaurant one night making jokes about how they love seafood. Which by the way would have been a lot funnier if it wasn't my sister, but that's not the point. I respect people who can have a good time even at their own expense. There's nothing wrong with it as long as all involved understand that it's just having fun.

Seems some
have replaced
That's Hot
with
That's Funny

This has less to do with Gay
& more to do with rank
Call it any other name
but it stinks just the same.

Why does it seem act like we're raised in barns?
I know there are alot of intelligent people on this forum.

What 2 people do is there own biz

They can laugh at themselves
Laugh with you.
You know them
but as a idle question in a business transaction its out of place.
That customer might have laughed
but he may also think twice about giving you his business again.

I'd expect that from a guy who sells newspapers or a bartender
but a self respecting business man should use a bit more decorum.

Unfortunately it seems Journey fans act like alcoholic truckdrivers...
That's funny

no disrespect to truckdrivers
my grandfather was a truck driver

Everyone likes to have some fun
like alcohol
in moderation
It's good to know when to stop
& save some dignity

Blame it on TV
What has this world come to
when you have to listen to
Barbara Walters talk about vagina's

8)

Someone having a sexual identity problem?
Call Dr Phil
I'm sure he'll be glad to help you out...

Children can ask dumb questions & get away with it
but some of us get tired of hearing the same ole shit
unlike Journey
where ole shit is good shit

I know there's not much going on with Journey right now
but there must be other things to talk about.
Maybe male pattern baldness?

Sure you can ask a bald guy about how it feels to not have to wash or comb his hair &
he might politely humor your interest while cursing you out under his breath...

Still some are bored
waiting for something new
Nothing else in life will do
so they sit waiting
passing the time
by nit picking everything
empty inside
they try to make humor
disguising there need to rise above
while stepping on others blaming them
for there misplaced anger
while the world is going down the toilet!

Now, That's really funny!

:P

When it rains
It pours
Time to go stick some gum in the hole in the leaking roof...
Anyone want to hold the ladder
