Travel ideas for the March 8th show

PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 1:06 pm

Wanted to start a thread to share travel plan ideas... I've been scoping prices, and right now between Priceline, Expedia and Travelocity, Priceline offers slightly cheaper rates.

For us, it's looking like airfare, hotel and car from 3/6 - 3/9 will be between $500/person (roach motel) to $650/person (if we stay AT the venue's Planet Hollywood hotel). That's a buttload just to see a show... haha! So I must really love ya all... :P

What are you guys planning on doing (for hotel especially)? Also, if you find any unbeatable travel deals, would love to hear those as well before I make our purchase.

I got $248 r/t from Chicago. Probably not getting a car because I have a penchant for loving to drive drunk and it's not a good idea there. Hotels...shit, give me the cheapest on as I'll be gambling 22 hours a day anyway. Oh yeah, drinking too. I'm actually not drinking a drop til then. That'll be 6 weeks total without a drop...if I can do it. 8)

As I've never been to Vegas, it will be tempting to stay at P.H., but if it was just me, I'd dang sure go for the cheapest just like you. The Mrs. likes to be pampered, though, and I simply can't have her bitching at me the entire trip... :P

There's no need for a car in Vegas. You taxi from the airport to the casino and you have no need to leave. Each one is like a mini-town. Unless anyone's planning a trip down to Freemont Street to check out the local escorts. :P

When I went to Louisville, KY last last year, I didn't need a car, so I'm all up for that. We do have some friends there that we will be having dinner with on Friday, though, so I guess I need to know how close they are... If a car is a waste, I'd rather not bother with it. There should be plenty to do to keep us occupied for 2 days...

The BEST place to stay in Vegas is The Hotel, its hidden inside Mandalay Bay but you are gonna pay $$$$, worth it though.
You do not need a car.
You need cash and lots of it. 8)

Hey, it's all about the pampering BABY! Whenever I go to Vegas I spend more time in the spa than I do in the casino!!!! If I'm going to throw away a bunch of money I want some hot, (yet probably gay) man rubbing me!!!!!

Rip Adams, err, Adams, dude, we can all share lodging, cut down on prices.

FYI, Priceline, Wxpedia, etc, all the same. One of those includes taxes the other doesn't, but it's the same bycket fares. Try to get to Chicago and go from there. Hell, rail or bus to CHI and go from there. This will be epic. I will share with room with you and Pam and some other peeps. Fuck it, Pam will pay, she is rich:)

Hey, I'd take you up on it if I was going solo, but I'll have the wife along. She'd keep the room A/C set on about 58 and freeze everyone else out. :P Afraid there won't be enough time to get to Chicago and use it as a launchpad to Vegas, but I don't know anything about the rail system, either. We are taking Thursday off and coming back Sunday.

Please pardon my travel ignorance... I'm used to single or double rooms -- what's the layout of these suites? Plenty of room for several people, or are people sleeping on couches, floors, wherever they can get a spot? What are you guys used to doing?

Awesome link. Thanks, tree. Much better to have that sort of virtual tour than the standard seating chart garbage. Very nice looking place.

I did some Travelocity thing....the whole shot is about 980 for me...

I think 209 was the cheapest...I was gonna go Excalibur bur figured a few extra bucks were worth it to stay in the venue of the show so I could crawl to my room at about 5am....

It comes out a little cheaper here, still not a bad rate.

I like the way you think!!! That's really not bad if you pile a few people in like I plan on doing. Thanks, man.

As a heads up when flying out on Sunday, when we went in October 06 we flew southwest and left on a sunday AM. They said at least two hours early to the airport. Well we went 1 1/2 hours early and the line was clear down the outside sidewalk just to check in. we made our flight barely.

In 07 we left on a monday and went 2 hours early and it was a wait but went smoother.
It helps to quit drinking at midnight the night before you leave.
When midnight hits and Fantasy asks if you want another dance you say NO! and you go back to your room.
Those little bags to barf in on planes do not hold an adult male or females stomach particles and chunks, it is just for decoration.

Keep in mind, you do not need a rental car, but when saving money staying at a cheap hotel off the strip, you will pay it anyway in cab fare to the venue hotel or nearby hotel.

In other words the venue hotel or one next to the venue hotel will usually be where people will hang out and down a few goldfish and tequila.
If you stay at The Plaza for 59 a night the cab fare to where it is happening will add up.

If you plan on bringing your mother in law or ex wife, sister etc to play hooker on the street corner to pay for your trip. It will not happen. Prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas.
