Someone gave me a link to a JSS/Journey performance of "Faith In The Heartland". Great video, except for the 2 chicks who block the camera for the first half of the video.

As I was watching, I saw a freaky moment where JSS walks behind Neal during the guitar solo... and it looked like something out of "Gulliver's Travels" or "Honey, I Shrunk The Guitarist"! Really freaky looking! I've heard Neal is short and JSS is over 6 ft, but dang! Check this out at the 4:15 mark...

Jeff is about 6-7 inches taller than Neal I believe. Standing next to me JSS seemed either 6'1 or 6'2 and Neal is 5'7 I believe.

Both, I met Jeff first {at the Soul S. concert]Im 5 foot 7,I had to look way up to even see his fuckin chin,he is a giant,I met Neal the same night, He was 3 inches shorter than me,as tall as Nana my dead grandmother. He is a little fucker,although his ego ,and attidude is way to big for his body and botox injected head

Neal. I agree is about 5'7 ish
but gosh in that vid he looks about 2 foot shorter than Jeff...

1) The stage itself looks ever so slightly tilted forward, even a micro tilt can cause an exaggerated depth perception, images in back, look much taller than images in front. etc, etc

2) JSS is very, very tall.

3) NS is very, very short.

I've stood between both...Neal is not that short at all (and who cares anyway..) JSS is one tall bugger though.

Tall or short, both have enormous talent.

Jeff is very tall. I'm 5'4" and it seems he's got at least a foot on me. LOL

Wow...that is freaky!

I'm 6'3" and stood right next to JSS for a pic backstage at last year's Indy show and he was the same height as me. Of course, he LOOKS taller because he's in a hell of a lot better shape than I am.

Both.

I met Neal when I was 10... we are about eye-to-eye.

That's what it looked like to me, and I was also wondering if the stage was tilted (don't know why they would do that), or if Jeff had stepped onto a ramp or stair behind him or something. If anything, w/Jeff standing a few feet behind him, it should make Jeff look a little shorter. Maybe it's kind of an optical trick...

SP is about 5ft.7", you can tell he was just a tad, ( what the hell is a "tad "anyway?!!) taller than Neal.
Neal won't have to "worry" anymore, as Arnel is barely 5ft.3"!
So there you have it, folks, the "Long" and "Short" of Journey!

I hear they're going to lower Stonehenge onto the stage during this year's shows.

Jeff is not 6'4.

I am 6'3 and taller than him. he is 6'2.5...tops...with the Side show Bob hairdo.

Nowhere near 6'4.

Well, it looks like Neal is leaning over while playing - he is not standing up totally straight. I thought Neal was 5'7'' and I've had the pleasure of looking waaaaaaaaay up at Jeff, so he's got to be 6'3'' at least.......

lol... okay I see what you're taking about. Neal isn't exactly a tall fella, but to add to it, he's bending his knees right when Jeff is walking behind him. Also the angle of perspective from the camera point of view adds to the giant illusion. Camera is pitched in a 3/4 above angle, not eye level. Couldn't tell, but was Jeff wearing shoes with heals? That certainly wouldn't help, lol...

But yes, a really weird moment in that video!

I was just about to post this very fact, and also Neal is bending at his waist, which he does quite a bit when he plays, which would also make him appear shorter.

However, it's obvious that Jeff is taller than Neal and that is a weird shot in the vid...pretty funny.

I haven't been close enough to Jeff to judge his height. I'm about 5'8", and Neal is a good 3 inches shorter than me, WITH his boots with a small heel. No way in heck is Neal 5'7".

I remember seeing a concert clip, maybe the same one, and there was a weird moment where Jeff looked gigantic & Neal looked very tiny. I believe JSS said once that he is 6'4 and Neal seems about 5'6 (I've been near enough to guess), but that clip looks like an exagerated optical illusion. Now wait til Arnel is up there...he's suppose to be under 5 feet.
It's always surprising to me how short a lot of men celebrities are...saw Mel Gibson once & he is short, Sylvester Stallone not very tall...whereas a lot of the women are all taller in person than they appear on screen!
And, I always thought SP & NS were very tall back in the day.
(of course, size doesn't really matter)

Pic is of my daughter, Cindy, with the best guitarist in the world(JMHO).
She is 5'3" and he is maybe 2 inches taller than her... I took the pic!
However his talent is HUGE!!!!!!
