OT: Forbes Magazine Most "Miserable" Cities in US

Postby Enigma869 » Sat Feb 02, 2008 10:02 am

Forbes Magazine just published their top 10 most miserable cities in America. The first link is just a quick view of the top 10 shittiest cities, and the second list is actually the Forbes article that goes into much more detail!

A few weeks ago my friend was shot in the head but survived, and his sister was killed instantly in a drive-by in Gary Indiana. I nominate that place. I probably need to get out of that softball league. :?

How is Oakland, CA not on any of these "shitty city" lists?

Gary didn't have a large enough population to make the survey but it would probably top the list if smaller cities were included.

Flint, MI -- the town that birthed Michael Moore definitely deserves a spot on that list.

I'm surprised I didn't see Pine Bluff, AR listed this time. The town is best known for a prison and a paper mill that stinks up the breathing air.

My company's headquarters is near there, in Mooresville.

Now that is a shitstain of a town. Multi-syllabic words are against the law...public urination is mandatory.

 ...Fortunately, I don't work at my company's headquarters. I live in Noblesville, IN, voted one of the 10 best places to live in the U.S. last year. Much nicer place, from what I hear....and we do use bigger words here as well.

You know, it's actually come along a little bit. Come to think of it, I can't remember the stench of the paper mill in quite some time... I could swear someone gave me a reason for it. I have to pass thru P.B. a couple of times a year.

They might want to add Vegas to the list once we get through with it. :P

I lived in Pine Bluff for about 9 months. The paper mill DOES stink when the wind is blowing in the right direction, but other than that, I liked it there. Was a long time ago though.

When was that? Do you happen to remember a great Chinese restaurant called Fu Mei's? It's been gone for several years now, I think.

Ummm...Correction Rip. Flint, Mi. is not where Moore was born and raised. That's just another of his many lies. He was born in the upscale Davison, Michigan about 15 minutes east of Flint. I was born and raised in Flint. Moved out right after I had my car stolen. :D

Not surprising... You know, he used to advertise his e-mail address as mmflint@aol.com. Can't stand the dude... I actually enjoyed "Bowling for Columbine" until I realized what a hack job it was... especially the Charlton Heston scene. He cuts/pastes to create whatever reality he wants to put forth.

Amen to that! I moved here in March of 2007, and can't get out fast enough! I am stunned that a city like Charlotte, with two of the largest banks in the country, both headquartered here (Bank of America and Wachovia) has this many ignorant dopes! You would think the banking industry would at least require semi-educated folks  I'll NEVER EVER EVER complain about a Boston winter again! My wife has already warned me that I'm not allowed to complain about winter, once we return home!

Geez, dude, I probably know you.

Yeah, it's a cultural sinkhole, among other things.

I'm the guy with the "For Sale" sign on my front lawn  As for your reference to a "cultural sinkhole"...I would say that's the most apropos description of Charlotte I've heard! It's a culturally bankrupt city. If it's not about NASCAR, nobody gives a shit!

So I guess I am 3 brain celled guy? I always thought, I was a pretty smart guy. Nascar takes some serious brains to really get into it.
