You nailed it. Seems like a lot of people are taking that approach and trying to pit one forum against another. We get it. It's a lot of fluff and BS. You know what you get when you go over there. This has been a philosophical issue with Journey since the early days of Back Talk. Journey views their forum as a promitional tool for the band, nothing more, nothing less. The band does not want to see anything at all that doesn't paint a rosie picture of the band to readers. The current site moderators have very specific guidelines (no matter how much they will swear up and down that they dont) about what is permitted on the boards and what is not.

If you go over there, don't expect freedom of speech. Expect anything that doesn't fully and completely paint a pretty picture to be removed asap.

To give you an idea of just how serious they are about this....they have *not* approved my username....and I applied a week ago. Imagine that, original creator of Journey's web forums prevented from gaining access to the boards. I guess that my opinion doesn't fall in line...LOL.

Seriously, though...you're not going to get to speak your mind. You will get to speak Schon's mind or Cain's mind. If you like speaking their opinions and not your own, you're better off there than anywhere else.

Prior to the forum dying last year, I had a few frictional posts over there, but I largely refrained from going in there and doing anything that would put CJ in a difficult position. Andrew was good enough to give me the opportunity to speak my mind here, so I saw no need to dredge it up over there.

The sad thing, and you alluded to it in your post, is that I could get in there if I really wanted to. I've got access to a while bunch of real email addresses (i.e. not free ones like yahoo or gmail) and I could spoof my IP address just as well as your everyday Suzie. However, I decided not to get involved in that, because if I posted over there, I wouldn't be picking fights...knowing that CJ has her hands full.

I still think it's sad that they didn't approve me...given my historical contributions to Journey's online presence *and* my friendship with Skylord. It just goes to show what lengths they are willing to to, in order to keep that place tighter than a ducks ass.

Like I said, it's a futile effort as I can (as others have already done so) circumvent their scrutiny procedures/approval process. I'm not a scumbag, faceless Suzie however. People know who I am and what I say is what I mean. So if I'm not going to be allowed in there and trusted to follow the rules, I have zero use for them.


Another sad issue behind this, and this is getting into the whole subject that happened last night, is that some people have called on me to get involved and try to help resolve the issue. Even though I've seen what was posted and have partially spoken to those involved, I refuse to take a role in the process if I'm not allowed into the Journey boards. I'm not going to do CJ *any* favors if she's not going to approve my username. I'm no patzy.

I could have told you that would happen before they even opened the forum. That's exactly what happened on BackTalk, and the upper management (aka Neal Schon) has not changed. He will squelch any and all opinions of the band unless they praise him and his current lineup. It basically operates the same way a religious cult does.

They certainly have the right to do that, as would the Rolling Stones if Mick Jagger was replaced and fans didn't like it. Changing lead singers that people grow fond of is bound to cause a lot of controversy. You cannot expect all the fans to just roll over and worship the new guy.

Personally I think it's great that they hired Arnel. He has a great voice and will probably do the band justice. But obviously there are those who feel otherwise - and the Journey forums will not be the place for them to be able to share this.
