Andrew - can you confirm the Heart/Cheap Trick Tour?

Is this a done deal and who would be considered the headliner?

The source was RV himself so I think it's pretty safe to say it's a done deal. As to who's headlining? On a 3 ticket tour of nostalgia bands doing greatest hits, is there really such a thing? My guess is the closer will rotate from show to show, but it will be between Heart and Journey. Seriously doubt Cheap Trick will ever close.

I'm sorry but both CT and Heart should blow Journey off the stage. Heart still sounds great, and CT always puts on a good show. Good luck to Journey ...

Cheap Trick is brutally awful and looking at it objectively, not from a Journey fan's or Frig/Fro/Arnel basher's perspective Journey and Heart are about equal careerwise, with MAYBE a slight edge to Journey.

Careful now, CT has a HUGE following in the northern states, huge in IL,IL,OH, etc. I bet they close in those areas.

I'm not a Cheap Trick fan - I'm sure they have a good fan base though. I don't think they have reached the level of record sales that Heart and Journey have, though.

I think I remember hearing that Homer Simpson's favorite band is Cheap Trick.

Right with ya on that one... Never really appealed to me, though they had a few songs I enjoyed. "Dream Police" was cool, and at the time, "Mighty Wings" from the Top Gun soundtrack was a favorite of mine. Soundtrack rock from that era didn't age well, though. Maybe it was the electronic drum sound and the overwrought drama of the songs (Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero" is another example of what I'm talking about).

Yeah, I never really got into Cheap Trick, though I'd love to see Heart!

I'm still saying this tour is going to have a set running order each night. Each band isn't going to haul around a more elaborate stage set for when they are closing and a stripped down one for when they go first or second.

I don't think there's any way Journey does NOT close on a tour promoting a new album. Like them or hate them, Journey isn't resigned to opening for Cheap Trick or Heart just yet...

There is nowhere in this country, or anywhere abroad, where Cheap Trick or Heart's COMBINED fan base exceeds that of Journey's. I'm just as big a Heart fan as Journey, and I own most of the 'Trick albums, but fact is fact.

I like the new avatar, Rip!

It reminds me of this one picture where Don has a really awful looking bowl-cut. I'm thinking that it was from the late 90s.

There is this guy that lives on my street. I can only describe him as what you might picture a typical stoner hippie to look like(long, dirty looking hair, bearded). This guy almost never comes out of his house either. He lives in this old run down house in the middle of a pretty decent neighborhood. One of those houses that kids are probably afraid to go up to! So anyways, I'm driving by last summer, and I was shocked to see him sitting on his front porch. But what is he doing? He's sitting there in a rocking chair, drinking, smoking, and blasting Cheap Trick. I mean blasting. I thought maybe he was just listening to the radion, but I could hear it down the street. He was playing the whole album. Just thought it was funny!

I'm really looking forward to this show. I agree that Journey will close. Heart & Cheap Trick may even do what Styx & Foreigner did when they opened for Def Leppard (not Lippard!) last summer, that being alternating the opening act when all three were on the same bill. (Although Foreigner wasn't there at the show I went to last year).
"Live at Budokan" was the third album I ever owned...THAT kicked ass! "Tonight it's You" is also one of my faves from my frat house days.
I'm there for Cheap Trick.
Maybe Gretchen Wilson comes on to sing "Barracuda" with Heart...

I'd like to catch several shows in the northeast...Anyone have any guess as to how much tickets for this show might be?

"awful"??? No way. Zander kicks ass live. I cannot believe the stuff he does with his vice live. Killer singer.
Out of all of them, probably Nielsen is the sloppiest, but Carols, Peterson and Zander are at the top of their game.

Gotta agree with Brywool here. Zander is a fantastic vocalist and Cheap Trick have always been a GREAT live band.
THE TRICK RULES!!!

Saw Cheap Trick in guess Mid 90's
Good Show & I had great front row right standing...so I almost was on the stage
but not like the 2 blond groupies he had blatantly waiting on the sidelines....

Robin Zander has a great voice
Good showman
Heart
Great songs
Sounds like a winner.

Yeah I'll agree that Cheap Trick isn't going to be the headliner, not in this life at least. Hard to say who's going to be the headliner. Only reason I think Journey would be is because they have a new album coming out. If it wasn't for that, I'd say it would be Heart hands down. There is an incredible amount of turmoil with Journey's recent three singer changes. My gutt feeling is Cheap Trick, Journey and then Heart. But again, since Journey's the one with the upcoming new album release, it would make sense it would be Heart and then Journey headlining. Who knows until it happens though. Stranger things have happened, they got Arnel from the Philippines off youtube and that's as strange as it comes. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him and I think he's an incredible vocalist, I also think it's pretty weird too.

my favorite cheap trick with lyrics included  .......

When Im down I make a call.
Got the number written on the wall.
First its busy then I try again.
Oh, whos she talking to, could it be him?

I got the number and it starts to ring.
I get excited and I start to dream.
I start to fantasize of memory lane.
Then she answers and she says right way.
She says Im home on my own, home all alone.
So I got off the phone.

(shes tight.) shes ahead of her time.
(shes tight.) shes one of a kind.
(shes tight.) shes a talented girl.
(shes tight.) shes got her head down tight.

I have something got to say to you.
Amnesia and my train of thought.
On the tip, tip of my tongue.
I had a vision when I was young.

You floated in, we floated up.
Through the window and down the hall.
I had a smoke and went upstairs.
Turned the door and opened the key. she spoke...
Im on my own, home all alone.
So I got off the phone.

(shes tight.) shes ahead of her time.
(shes tight.) shes one of a kind.
(shes tight.) shes a talented girl.
(shes tight.) shes got her head down tight.

(shes tight.) shes giving me the go.
(shes tight.) shes giving me the high sign.
(shes tight.) well turn off the lights.
(shes tight.) pull down the shades.
(shes nice, shes tight.) turn on the camra.
(shes nice, shes tight.) and getting ready for action.

Turn off the radio.
Turn on the video.

Again, the problem with this lineup is that they're being paired with two strong bands. Like 'em or hate 'em, Cheap Trick still sounds great live. Saw 'em last summer. Ann Wilson still sounds great.

I agree Journey will most likely close, but I'm not sure they'll put on the best show.

Thinking back to the Main Event show, I was there mainly for Styx and Journey. Fucking hate REO live. BUt anyway ... Styx was strong. REO sucked (I sat their entire set) and JOurney was OK,but as good as Styx. They seemed like they were on autopilot a bit. Styx was pushing Cyclorama at the time.

I think Heart has a chance of blowing Journey away more often than not.

I could be wrong, but it's a good bill nonetheless.

you have no cred with that statement CT is one of the best live bands ever.
but they dont have the power to headline or middle. def the opener.but a great 45min set.

Pretty surprised at the lack of love CT is getting on this board... some of the best blending of power pop and melodic rock in history... "Had to Make You Mine" is the best song The Beatles never wrote and their arena classics are sing-alongs for people who don't even know the song is by Cheap Trick.
