WASHINGTON -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, "it will be affordable for everyone.

Who is she to decide who can and can't afford health insurance? Hey, healthcare abuses are out of control, but deciding how people could be spending their money is not the government's freaking place to say...

I agree with you Rip. Hell they cant even figure out that there are people out there working that don't even make min. wage.

If she wants to make healthcare affordable she needs to look no further than her trial lawyer friends.

What also needs to be looked at is the problem with the 12mil + illegals in this country. An article in the local newspaper here stated that at the rate that the "anchor" babies were being born to the illegals, the local Women's hospital would go broke soon. Over the last 6 months, 7 out of 10 babies born were to illegals. Don't forget, that "anchor" now allows them to collect welfare along with the fact that they pay no taxes. I havent really heard too much about this problem and I havent heard a good solution to this problem from EITHER side.

Hillary in 2008 is the path toward big government and big spending.

By any means necessary, every illegal person in this country should be shipped the fuck out of here ASAP. Better yet, give them a one year warning and inform them that after one year anyone here illegally will be imprisoned and anyone here illegally with a felony will be executed. Very true, but two issues I seriously doubt we'll see addressed properly in our lifetime. Too much money, too much power to be lost by seriously tackling either of those societal cancers. That's why our country is so screwed up...

Couldn't have said it better myself. If people either can't or refuse to buy health insurance that's their call. However, I do think those who can afford it, but don't buy it shouldn't be allowed to lanquish on charity care.

Millions of folks work where their employer does not offer health care benefits. Health care is so fucking expensive. it's simply not fair. They are all Americans and my point is that every American should be offered a vital service.

To Hell with the self responsibility bullshit. Do you not care about your fellow countrymen/women?

It's their own fault they didn't get their MBA and become Donald Trump. It's their own fault there's no similar job available in their area. It's their own fault they don't have the money to take as much time as necessary and move wherever necessary to find another job with decent pay and benefits.

And of course all of the poor people in this country are lazy, good for nothing sewage that doesn't deserve to live anyway so why give them medical care to keep them alive.

Here is the solution to health care via "Patient Power: The Free-Enterprise Alternative to Clinton's Health Plan":

"The Goodman and Musgrave solution is to restore power and responsibility to individuals. They propose that consumers be free to set up tax-free medical savings accounts to cover routine medical expenses. Since the money in those accounts would be the property of individuals, they would have an incentive to spend wisely on health care."

This is the way to go. Less, not more Government involvement. You guys should read the book - you might just learn something.

My employer provides my health insurance. Since it's a small business, he ends up paying full freight to the tune of $320 a month. I was eligible after 90 days, but I wanted to prove myself at my job I didn't ask for it for like three years. Do I consider myself lucky? Yes. But I know what it costs him to ensure me and his employees at his other businesses. It's something I didn't expect, and didn't feel I deserved.

May I also point out that lots of insurance companies offer catastrophic health insurance at a low cost. The deductible are set high, I believe 5 and 10 grand, and it's not the high end, $10 copay kind of insurance, but that combined with HSAs is a step in the right direction for a lot of people.
