The Lynch / Dokken rumor is an annual thing at least....I heard it too....but why? The band have a new album and a re-recorded Greatest Hits in the can ready to go.

They still keep pushing back the release date... it was supposed to be last November, then earlier this year, then Feb. 6th (in Japan at least, and still no evidence it's available there), and now I'm reading late March here in the states. They also said it would be released on Rhino Records, so I e-mailed them last night and they replied to say they have no date set yet. Maybe a reunion is holding something up, but this is very unusual.

Wait, what? A re-recorded greatest hits as well as a new album? Have I been talking Dokken so much here that you've gotten them confused w/Journey? :P

Album is done and complete - trust me on that :)

And it's out in April.

Correct. The re-record hits CD has no release date as yet.

They haven't even had any greatest hits to make a Greatest Hits album with. Classic songs? Yes. Greatest Hits. No.

Actually, the Warrant/Cinderella part is confirmed...the 3rd band isn't, as Iknow another band that might sub for Dokken in this line-up.

Great! Another tour where George looks pissed and stands with his back to us?

They sure DID kick ass back in the day, though!

BTW - the whole concept of this "REUNION" package tour is 100% on the money....there are forces at play here. No confident of it happening...if it doesn't, replacement band steps into the bill (as I was talking to them this week...)

I know you got an advance copy -- give it to me. :P

I hate to say, but I think a re-recorded G.H. for Dokken would be a huge, huge, mistake. I mean, what's the purpose? Surely not just to edge the other guys out even more. And no way possible for him to come close to doing justice to those on any re-recording. This idea is worse than Journey doing the same, and is leaving me scratching my head... Maybe it's about their label wanting their own copy of the songs? It's happened before (one of Quiet Riot's labels made them re-record some of their hits just so they could have control of a copy -- the new versions sucked!)

I didn't see this one coming. If he's going to behave this time, let him in. Hopefully he has grown up by now, although that's what they thought back in 1995.

Rip, did I ever tell you about the time I saw Dokken open for Aerosmith?

Lynch was standing up for the first song.

Leaning against the speakers for the second song.

On his knees for the third song, and fell on his face as soon as it was over.

I guess he was effed up. The good thing is that Aerosmith played an extra long set. 8)

Hey, Rip, I'm going to see Queensryche tonight with Don Dokken opening (doing an acoustic set) here in Manhattan. 8) I don't expect to have any access to Don at all, but will definitely ask about this if "lighting strikes again".

Yep, the Nokia! :D I got a connection.

Never saw 'Ryche before (always wanted to). Saw Dokken many times, met the original line up a few times, and met them when they were out with Reb once. He was the nicest and most down to earth (next to Jeff Pilson) out of all of them. Don and Mick are pretty cool, but more in the rockstar kind of mode. George, well, he's a bit out there. Hot as hell  and one of my favorite guitarists, but not really a personable kind of guy (at least the few times that I met him). Uh, I do recall him having the softest hands I'd ever felt on a guy  (we shook hands! get your minds out of the gutter, people!).

Will see about showing Don your, uh, message, but I'm wondering if that might get me escorted out by security... Oh, wait... That's right! I got a connection!

:::gulp::: I might still get escorted out ...

LOL! Thanks, Rocker Chic! Please keep me posted... You rule! Hey, your experience with the guys was nearly identical to mine (somewhere here, I've posted the whole story). Jeff is incredibly down to earth. George was polite, but fairly aloof, and YES -- for such a pumped up guy, he had very soft hands and a very light handshake! I was expecting a pretty tough grip from him, and remember being surprised. Maybe he's just protective of his hands or something. Don and Mick also were exactly as you describe -- very cool and nice, but more in a rock star type of way. What a trip...

Anyway, have fun at the show!

Dokken, Cinderalla, Warrant. Who will go on 1st. Who will go on last? How long will they play? Sorry I must have been reading to much of the Journey/Heart thread. It won't be a full reunion because I don't see Jeff Pilson leaving Foreigner anytime soon.

There was a funny story a few years back about one of these tickets that included Warrant and Dokken (this was right before Jani split). Dokken insisted on headlining, and ran up onstage bitching at Jani to end their set when he felt they were dragging it out too long. Really made a scene! Then the headline slot kinda backfired on them, as much of the audience had grown tired after so many bands and didn't wait around for Dokken to take the stage... Wonder what would happen on this tour? :P

When I saw Great White open for Dokken there was a long delay between band because Jack Russell soaked Dokken's equiptment with his never ending squirting bottles of water. During Great White's set it was so packed in the club we had to watch it at the side bar on tv. When Dokken came on the place was half full and we made it to the front. I hung with J.Russell before the show. Hell of a nice guy - shame what happened.

I've met Jack twice, and he was super nice each time. He'd gained so much weight in the face the last time I saw him, I could barely recognize him. I think he's dropped a bit since then.
