Or is Arnel getting the most media attention out of all the singers that Journey has had since Perry? It seems like the media cant get enough about this... Im glad they are getting some attention, but I dont remember what it was like when Augeri started... Was it this crazy??

He should. He's the best one so far. I have a feeling once the album is out in May and the tour starts for real in the U.S.(in July) that his talents are going to raise a lot of eyebrows. The man is immensely talented.

Perhaps, but I can GUARANTEE you that the youtube story is bullshit. Irving Azoff used to head MCA and that's the label Arnel was signed to prior to Journey. They knew exactly who he was. This is Journey finally being smart and concocting a story to generate free publicity, which it has. Genius move. Free advertising Motley Crue and other bands used to do this sort of shit all the time. Nikki Sixx was the master of this sort of stuff.

Where is he getting media attention? I saw the CNN thing, but I also read that that program is designed as a 'viewer decides the news' type of thing, meaning anyone here could send that information in to CNN to be broadcast. I am unaware of much more information about Journey in mainstream media. I'd be interested in seeing/reading about it, if it's something other than the "I'd been sitting in front of my computer for 3 days" crap.

Donna, I have to agree with you 100% on this....I never, ever believed the YOUTUBE story---no one can be that stupid as to say what Neal said.
Although I do like Arnel's voice, he is not near SP...no one has that depth and richness to their voice.'
I am a Journey fan and always will be!

Yep- other than here and Classicrock revisited, I haven't read a freakin word.
In the mainstream media (even the MUSIC media) this is a non-story...

I saw a blurb about this on RollingStone.com or Vh1.com or something like that when I ran a search back when the news was, well, newer.... and heard the local DJ talking about it on the radio.

Carol, I know you don't like Neal, but how the Hell do you think Neal found him? That is a true story.

Fuck me!!!

I hate to be the voice of dissent whenever this topic points northward. Perhaps, I should relabel myself the voice of reason.

Let me say this (and this is neither negative or positive)...unless Journey, A$$off and all those involved can turn this arnel acquisition into a new, moving-forward, chapter of journey..the youtube thing, the secondwife thing and every other side-bar of this story will likely be just a punch line.

I really hope Journey can move forward with this, instead of just dirty dozen this new singer to death and ruin things further.

the radio stations here in la have mentioned arnel & played clips of him singing. a guy i work with came in one morning telling me that he heard on the radio that journey hired a new singer. that they played a clip of him singing 'faithfully'. my firend said he got goosebumps... this came from a guy who LOVES steve perry. i would have been happy with this news but at the time i was still 'bitter'. most of the media i believe is coming from arnel's home town.

it doesn't surprise me at all that people living out in the boonies aren't hearing anything. ya'll need to move to the big city. }:C)

(my friend calls me mrs. perry... i love that! }=C)))

I live in a city and there has been no mention of Arnel on
sattalite or reg. radio? but XM did play Cheap Trick and Journey
back to back more than once this week on Big Tracks, coincidence...?

Frank, I absolutely love when you start your posts this way.
In fact I think you should do it every time, even if you're just posting to say "good morning".

But I'm with those who've said where is all this alleged media attention? There was the CNN thing, a couple one-off quotes about it after the press release, and I personally heard one mention of it on satellite radio. I've looked in Rolling Stone and a couple other music pubs and unless I missed something, I haven't seen jack. It's gotten more attention by the Filipino press and the reason is obvious. Were it not for Arnel, they wouldn't give a flying fuck in France what Journey was doing. Over here it's not been that big a story.

I think I do recall the Rolling Stone piece. Most everything I've seen is pretty much a re-publishing of the press release. I don't think it's gonna get the kind of press people think it might, because it is an 80's era band with an unknown singer, who is singing songs someone else made famous. That's not a knock on Arnel, it's just that it doesn't really excite the general public enough for the mass media to take hold of it. Now... if it WERE a reunion tour upcoming, I think it might be different. I think we would all agree with that.

Bingo. Neal reads here. He did when Tapegate was in full force. He told me he loves reading this place and yes, he got the youtube idea from all of us.

No secret here.

I think he should just face reality, come on board as Locknload and just man up. No one is going to bash him any more.

Neal, what's happened happened. Dude, comp me four for Vegas you curly haired cocksucker!
