wonder which has a better chance of happening first....
a steve perry solo album or one last journey album with steve on vocals.
been '94 since his last solo effort FTLOSM and '96 since the last group effort TBF.
i often wonder if he'd be up to recording an album if he knew he wouldn't have to tour behind it.maybe the touring part is why he doesn't release new music because he might feel obligated about having to go on the road to support it.
no need to tour just releasing new music would be cool to the majority of fans......

Neither will happen....sad but true. Besides, honestly as much as I love Perry in his prime, he is far from that some 20 years later and the Journey catalogue would be an extreme challenge for him IMO.
I would LOVE to have 1 more solo album from him though!

Tutankhamun and Caesar Augustus will rise from the dead and replace Joe Elliott and Phil Collen, respectively, in Def Leppard before Steve reunites with Journey or even sings live again, for that matter.

More chance of a solo album, but neither will happen.

I don't think either is going to happen. But if either one does happen it will be a solo album.

Its possible for the solo album..The problem is,that it would be closer to Barry Manilow style music that Journey..

If he records 11 ballads and 1 rocker,he can stay retired.. The rockers from him are what hooked me ,not the ballads..

It was discussed on air in his interview with Uncle Joe Benson. Perry of course played coy and was noncommittal. One thing was for sure, he didn't have an interest in recording another melodic rock album. Claimed he didn't want to become a parody of himself. I think it's more about him knowing he's no longer capable of delivering what we come to expect from him. Harsh situation to be in.

he had a real long, nice, successful run 1978-1988 which included six or seven platinum sellers which includes all those millions the greatest hits sold when released late that year.a good long decade of domination and that included a comeback of sorts within a three year period where he released his solo effort in '94 that went platinum plus the trial by fire group release in '96 which also was a million seller.after that second comeback of sorts i think he finally had his fill and quit satisfied and while he was ahead of the game.he went out on top......

Forgot about that one. Man, that would have been a cool tour.

That's what I thought he might do a few years ago, but now that so many others have gone that route I don't think he'd want to be just another old fart singing old songs.

He said as much in a Q&A a couple years ago.

riaa list street talk as 2x platinum, and FTLOSM as gold, the industry has passed this kind of music on, he dosent have the power of a band like the eagles to get enough sales to have a number 1 , and radio will not play it without payola, no matter how good it was. a cover cd would be the only real option for publicity.

Neither are ever going to happen, because like someone posted earlier, if Perry could sing like he did with Journey, nothing would have stopped him from continuing with his singing career.
