Any one watch the Roger Clemens congressional hearing on TV today ???

It seemed that all of the democrats were supporting the trainer, whilst the republicans were backing Roger.

WTF? do they have to make everything partisan? Fricken pathetic. Either he's guilty or not , aint got nothing to do with political parties?

BTW, in interest of full disclosure, Im a Red Sox fan, I don't care whether he was on drugs or not- dirty or clean , devil or angel, the guys a damn traitor !

There was nothing partisan except that fat broad from Texas I believe. She was obviously hoping Roger would pull out his crank and feed her a high level of roid protein liquid lunch.

He is guilty, looks real bad.

McNamee is a creep, but looks better than Roger.

Enjoy prison Roger.

Congress is a fucking joke! Just a sampling of statements made by these fucking yahoos...A rep from NY actually thanked him for his "service to the NY Yankees"! Another jackass asked Clemens which team's jersey (someone should tell this moron that it's a team's cap and not a jersey, and that it's no longer a player's decision) he was going to wear into the hall of fame! And then Representative Norton (whoever the hell she is) actually told Clemens that she was sure he was going to heaven! Our government is a fucking embarassment!

Your point is what?? That the Republicans are "above the fray" and more competent? Listen, as I've said here in the past, I'm not aligned with either political party and don't care to be. The one thing I'm sure of is that EVERY politician, regardless of political affiliation, is completely full of shit! Being a lying sack of turds is a prerequisite for the damn job of politician! Also, given the fact that a complete fuck up, Republican is in control of The White House, I'm not sure I'd be pounding my chest so proudly. That assclown may very well be the most incompetent poltician I've EVER seen, on either side of the aisle

Incidentally, I forgot to mention that all three moron politicians that I referred to in my original post were card-carrying Republicans, who were alll trying to get a whif of Clemens' sack! Those fuckers should be thrown out of office, immediately, because they clearly don't belong representing the interests of Americans!

It's time.
There should be a polygraph issued to all MLB players who wish to clear their name. Polygraphs are not 100%, but they are damn close. The danger lies in the possibility of a liar beating the polygraph, not an innocent person flunking. My dad, having been in law enforcement (police and FBI task forces) says the liars will never volunteer just as they never do in suspected homicides and other serious crimes. Richard Nixon never took one. Bill Clinton never took one. Ronald Reagan never took one. Watergate-guilty! Blowjob-guilty! Iran/contra-guilty! Just let the FBI give the tests...MLB pays for it...and release the names of the one's that pass only.
...and then let's all move on. If no-one takes the test, we all know how pervasive the use was. I think we do already. No other incriminating or embarrassing questions (did you smoke weed? did you suck a dick? etc.)...and then for the love of god and baseball let's move on. I have had enough of this shit. This is turning baseball, one of the great loves of my life, into a cheap sideshow.

I can tell you as someone who has also had experience in law enforcement and a degree in Criminal Justice, I would NEVER rely upon a polygraph examination. The exams measure stress levels in the subject being examined, and I don't know too many people (including innocent people) who wouldn't feel some stress, when being hooked up to that machine! There is a reason that these things have never and will never be allowed in court! They simply aren't accurate!

I am not suggesting for a minute that I think Clemens is innocent. I think the guy is lying out his ass. I personally think WAY too much time is being spent on all of this. While I don't condone the use of performance-enhancing drugs, they clearly don't make everyone a superstar. If you look at the list of MLB players who have been implicated in the steroid scandal, there are plenty of guys on the list that nobody ever heard of, because they sucked, even with the so-called performance-enhancers! I do think the HR records are meaningless, because I do think power hitters were helped the most by this stuff!

True...but you and I can't be considered Joe Q. Ordinarypublic, which as a whole may view a lie detector test as a vidicator.
Myself, I was wishing Clemens would have pulled a "Nicholson" (A Few Good Men) while being pummeled with questions...

"SON, WE LIVE IN A WORLD WITH MOUNDS. THOSE MOUNDS NEED TO BE MANNED BY MEN WITH BIG FASTBALLS. WHO'S GONNA DO IT? YOU, MR MCNAMEE?...YOU SENATOR?...I'M ON THAT MOUND BECAUSE DEEP DOWN IN PLACES YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT AT PARTIES, YOU WANT ME ON THAT MOUND, YOU NEED ME ON THAT MOUND!!!!!

I definitely agree with you that Clemens would have been a WHOLE LOT better off if he simply came out and said "I fucked up"! The guy looks worse, every time he opens his mouth! Incidentally, where the hell did he ever come up with "misremembered"? Didn't this guy graduate from the University of Texas? So much for that Longhorn education!

Yeah...When the Mitchell Report came out, what if the guy just said, "yeah, I made a mistake. I took HGH for a while back in the late 90s just to keep up with everyone else. I saw everyone doing it, so I did it too. Did it for a little while, then I quit. Biggest mistake I ever made. I hope you can forgive me"

1) He'd have saved MILLIONS in legal fees.
2) He'd suffer the slings and arrows of the media for a little while, but eventually be forgiven for his honesty.
3) He'd stand a chance of getting into the Hall.
4) He'd still have a friendship with Pettitte.
5) He'd not be subject to perjury charges.
6) He might be able to pitch this year and earn another paycheck.

What a colossal mess he's turned this into.

I also think his marriage could be done.
He testified under oath that his wife and McNamee did something shady and illegal without his knowledge.

He hung her out to dry, threw her under the wheels.

It was McNamee who threw her under the bus:

(LA Times)
In his deposition to the committee, McNamee told of injecting Clemens' wife, Debbie, with HGH in 2003, with Roger Clemens looking on.

"She was . . . very into the Hollywood scene," McNamee said in his deposition. "I think she was finding out that people in Hollywood were taking growth hormone and how great it was for women and body fat and youthful appearances and such."

Before the injection, McNamee said Debbie Clemens said to her husband, "I can't believe you're going to let him do this," to which McNamee said Roger Clemens answered, "He injects me, why can't he inject you?"

Yet Roger Clemens testified he was not present at the time of his wife's injection, and "found out later in the evening. . . . Prior to [McNamee] injecting my wife, we had no discussion about HGH. We never discussed HGH in detail."

On the heels of admissions of performance-enhancing drug use by Pettitte and former New York Yankees second baseman Chuck Knoblauch after being named by McNamee, however, Debbie Clemens became another to confirm McNamee's accusation.

Roger Clemens read a statement from his wife, in which she said, " . . . [McNamee] said it was not illegal and would be good for youthfulness. He gave me a test shot. I had circulation problems with itching."

Said Roger Clemens: "She has been broken up over this; [she] feels like a pawn in his game."

without a doubt Brian brought her into it, but Clemens could've told the truth and said:

"Look, I did 'roids and I suggested she should do them too to buff up for the bathing suit spread."

Instead, since he's lying up,down, left, right, and center he has to make it look she had the idea to shoot the 'roids behind he, Mr Clean's, back.

Come on, man, what HOUSEWIFE do we know who WANTS to get shot up with steroids or HGH?

The 2 of them on that shit, though, must've made for marathon roid rage sex sessions like Arnie and the female terminator throwing eachother around in Terminator 3.
