SWEET!!! Killer Schon solo at the end, and it sounds like Rolie is playing the fucking bagpipes. Vintage!!!

Thanks.

It doesn't get any better than that.

Thanks, Deb. I love the SP & GR harmonies, too. Makes me sad that I only saw that combo in concert once, in 1980.

There has never been anyone with a voice that touches my soul like Steve's does. I doubt there ever will be. I'm just really grateful that I was able to experience as many shows as I did and that there are great boots like this floating around. Thanks for posting. :)

Then there are folks like me who didn't even know Journey was on the map until 1984! I missed ALL those early concert tours - thank god I managed to see the ROR tour twice!

I right there with you on Perry's voice. I'm in the car and the iPod is on "shuffle" and Steve starts singing - solo or Journey - and its like that old commercial where the guy is sitting in front of his speakers with his hair flying in the wind.

It just blows me away.

I hear ya! I haven't heard a voice yet in the last 25 years that tops Perry's soulful vocals. Mind you when it comes to soul, there is a few songs where EM comes pretty darn close. For example this one gets me everytime..... just give me those soulful soaring vocals. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0swL7jihXd4

Mistie, I didn't know much of them before Escape either, the only Journey concert I saw was the Escape tour in May/82.........and I would so love to have seen an ROR concert!

That's true for me, too...but, sad that I only saw that one concert ('79)...hearing SP's voice again after all those years I didn't listen was one of the most powerful experiences...amazing. Thanks, Deb for bringing these.

:( Well, look at it this way, you missed a lot of the drama! Being a Journey fan has been one hell of a roller coaster, the shorter the time, the less baggage you bring to your perspective. I have so much baggage I'd have to rent a uHaul just to see a concert! :D

btw - You do realize that you are basically complimenting Perry, right?
("imitable inimitable"/ "worthy of being copied, yet defying imitation" - I can't tell, lately, if you really LIKE Perry or not...[?])
