He's got a very deep speaking voice. I'm sure that's due in part to his smoking habit. Actually, both he and another favorite singer of mine, Rob Halford, both have had bad smoking habits, something very damaging for a singer.

DD was smoking like a chimney when we met him, even with all the "No Smoking" signs throughout the venue.

We were talking about that last night. He has the speaking voice you would imagine reading books for audio.......Stephen King books, actually.
It's fascinating and creepy all at the same time.

On another note, I was shocked when he picked up the saxophone and started wailing on that thing. He was really good!

Geoff smokes? These fuckin' guys take those voices for granted.

I have half their talent (at best), but I have never smoked a single cigarette. If I had, I'd be even further behind the curve.

At one point, I was standing over to the right-hand side of the stage, sort of behind the speakers, and Geoff strutted over there and gave us some sort of power-salute -- hit his chest twice and pumped his fist out to us. It just about knocked me down...
