MySpace Support vs. Radio Support

:? :? :(

(As you can see, I'm kinda undecided about something.)

First off, it's a great place to get exposure and find out about different kinds of music - totally on-board with that.

BUT...

I found out about a beautiful song by PAT BENATAR - but only because she accepted my "Friend Request"...so, I received a notice on my Bulletin Board.

This song was on her 1993 CD "Gravity's Rainbow" - did that get any radio support?

It just pisses me off.....if I DIDN'T get on MySpace, I would've never known about it....it's just a vicious circle... :x

She was on "The Young and the Restless"(?!) performing this...
(Classical Training DOES save your voice....she still sounds amazing...8))

You are so right and I said that to my husband when we were watching it. It's really a shame. It's like they don't think she has anything to offer. That couldn't be further from the truth, as she proved the other day. I hope they are listening now.

"Everybody Lay Down" , "Crazy" and "Somebody's Baby" were the only songs released off that album, although there was a video released in 1994 of "Everytime I Fall Back". She has played that song quite often in concert. The Y&R version was a little different, but sounded great. Of course, I think everything she does is! :P

BTW...she is releaseing an album this year that will be all acoustic versions of her songs. Since they sang that on Y&R maybe it will be on it! She's been doing and AMAZING version of "Love Is A Battlefield" in concert for years.

OH! One more thing, Trag...she has a great song called "Passion" that was written solely for a Jello commerical. You can go to Jello's website and download it!

Yeah! lol! Jello has a new flavor, Passion fruit or something and they enlisted her to write a jingle. This from a lady who bashed rockers for YEARS about selling out to commercial endorsements. She's had quite a few in the past decade: Energizer, Jello and she is also pushing the Candie's line at Kohl's.

Radio for 'our types of bands' is a wasteland Nora. You'll get NO info out of them, UNLESS the band happens to come through town and the local classic rock station wants to kiss their ass during an interview.
There's one seattle classic rock station, and they constantly badmouth bands... that is until they come to town, then they interview them and act like they're the greatest things in the world. They also won't play ANY of their new songs.

Radio is a waste. Good thing to note for your own band. You'll do better with web promotion!
