My dear (sometimes  ) husband just purchased for me the 9-DVD Midnight Special set. Watching a very young Peter Frampton right now. Next up - Cass Elliot and John Denver (ick) duet.

Looks like some pretty good entertainment in store for the rest of the weekend. Crap I feel old - I remember seeing some of this stuff when it aired.

Me, too...although I'll probably just wait until I can find a good price on a used set on eBay eventually...

;^)

He bought it on Ebay from a Canadian seller - not used, brand new - says it was still a great deal (compared to ordering from the official site). And got here really fast, in just a few days.

I just can't believe how dorky some of the guys look. Some great stuff tho'.

There are some real gems on those! We ordered them from that TV deal and they just kept arriving until we had 18 of them. After the years came then came "More 1978" etc. Then after that came some other titles(don't remember what) and we didn't continue them.

Those shows would be neat to see again...I clearly remember trying to stay awake to watch Peter Frampton in '76 - I believe, it was the Midnight Special. Nothing like today's technology with Tivo & recording to watch at your own convenience. :)

The Midnite Special was the FIRST place I saw JOURNEY play live (Wheel in the sky) My first thought? DAME that guitar player has a huge afro!!!!

Best episode I remember? The Baby's, Thin Lizzy and Eddie Money (from 1980, I believe) and of course the classic epi w/ Nugent, ACDC and Aerosmith!

Great stuff!!!

Gee - I don't know - would one of 'em be the one singing LTS?

Don't care - still fun to watch after all this time (and not all of them lipped - Debbie Harry should've - she sounded awful)

Hardly...do the words AMERICAN BANDSTAND mean anything to you?

BTW- most of the artists on MIDNIGHT SPECIAL didn't lipsync. There were some great live performances.

Didn't Jon comment that Journey would be appearing on one of these DVD releases? Has a disc been released that has either of Journey's appearances on it?
