who felt the earth quake at just nearly one o'clock this morning?

I know it has been felt as far as Berkshire, and as far across as Lancashire, anyone else?

And have you got any damage...we got cracks appeared in the walls :?

wow, i just read that it was a magnitude somewhere between 4.7 & 5.3! that's pretty big, especially for an area that's not prepared for quakes. i hope everyone there was only shaken & not stirred.

Yep we got it here.
Its registered as 5.2! No damage for me, but a guy on my local news had his roof fall in on him while he was in bed and his pelvis is broken.
It sounds like because most people were at home asleep and not out & about that there aren't many casualties. Thank goodness.

I was wide awake!
I wondered what the hell was happening though because I hadn't been drinking and as Cyndy posted earlier, we are just not used to this kind of thing!

We're fine, it's jut one of those things...I hit my blooming head though!! ;)

We do get them all the time, they are just so small some aren't even noticeable.
We ahve cracks in the masonary, but thats all, some people got a lot worse:)

Well we have had floods, tornado's, water spouts, and a good pea souper the other week, what else has Mother N got in store for us?

Oh and on that score, my mum is finally moving back into her flat after the floods, she can't wait to get back to her home! :)

No I think we do, but they arent as massive as the ones in the states.
We also get 200 - 300 quales a year , just a lot of them are so tiny. ;)

We have an organisation in the UK called the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation (TORRO). If I remember correctly I think they once stated that the UK experiences around 1,000 tornados per year, a higher density per population than anywhere else in the world. However, all but a tiny fraction of a percentage are so weak and short lived that most people wouldn't even recognise them as tornados. It is extremely rare to see one in the UK showing the classic features everyone associates with tornados.

The vast majority of severe tornados occur in Tornado Alley in the US (an arbitrary area that encompases Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado etc), and most of these between April and July. I only mention this useless piece of information because I'm planning to be out there in June chasing tornados in those very States. :D :D
