Oh no. My parents were married for 23 years and had 2 kids. My dad wanted to get remarried about 18 years after the divorce, and his wife is a devout Catholic who has never been married. She insisted that he get an annulment. He paid the church a nice chunk of change, got my mom to sign a paper, got a few of his relatives to give statements that my parents never should have been married, and the marriage was erased from the Catholic books. Funny how my brother and I are still here--I guess they couldn't erase us. And no, I don't want to get into a debate about the Catholic religion over this. I am not Catholic, and I think the whole annulment thing is a complete crock. Nothing anyone can say will change my mind.
