I'm just wondering out loud here (I don't actually KNOW anything), but maybe Steve isn't quite satisfied with where is voice is just yet and he's giving himself as much time as possible to heal. Or maybe he's just enjoying the time at home with his family after touring so much for 8 years.

I am just wondering what happened to all those times we heard about the albums, how he had to wait until December because of some Journey reason, and what not.

I am wondering if his voice was permanently damaged and there will not ever be a solo album.

after meeting a few guys involved in music on this board, i now have a much better understanding off how long it actually takes to record and put out a cd, especially when there isn't a big label involved. so i am patient and confident that the future holds something for augeri and his fans. but thanks for the concern, my friend knox.

Wasn't December the month that kept coming up? Everyone was so sure we would have these albums in December. I am just wondering what happened to December...

Was I an Augeri fan? No, not at all.

Do I want to see him and Soto succeed now now that all this crap has happened with Journey?

Absofrickenlutely!

I had heard that Mr Augeri was doing just fine,
even caught the Xmas clip and was glad to hear him singing again.
He seemed just a tad bit uncomfortable up there but sounded pretty
good.

But he recently had a set back...
Seems during dinner one night, throwing back some pasta and gravy,
one of his kids found one them new "Journey in Chile" Youtubes, played it and
next thing you know, Mr Augeri is choking on his pasta!!!

Poor guy laughed so damn hard that, not only did he almost choke to death but,
he re-strained them pipes laughing his ass off at what he was seeing and hearing

yes, we were all hopeful that something would have showed up by december, but maybe, the time he had to wait, made him revisit some or all of the cd. just a thought.

i don't doubt your wanting to see him succeed.

I too would like to see Augeri succeed in this business again..

But with all due respect sir... how do you expect for him to have a succeeding career when people here are writing off a band that sold over millions of records? A band he once sang for..

He may not ever have any success. I wrote Journey off when they picked up Augeri. I fell in love with them again when they picked up Soto. Couldn't care less about them now - as my absence in posting has shown.

I choose to live in the magic of '78-'81. Those were the best years of Journey for me.

I just want to see Jeff and Steve stick it to the guys.

However, if Soto couldn't do it on his own, I have my doubts with Augeri.

Just as has been said in the "Question for Soto Fans" thread, timing is everything. Today, it's either Hip Hop or 14 year olds.

Which is why I listen to Contemporary Country or the local 70's/80's station.

Here is a transcript of my PM with Brooke St. James. As you can see SA is busy!

"Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the kind words. Steve and I have been creating but it's been a long road back for him from the Journey experience. I believe he is in as good a place with the guys as can be expected as he is and has always been the consummate professional.I will pass the message to Steve tomorrow.

Many Thanks,
Brooke "

For those who aren't sure of who Brooke is - That's Brooke st. James from Tyketto.

good points, however, as i said, i have met quite a few musicians over the last couple of years on this board and honestly, they all truly enjoy doing what they are doing, and because of that i have travelled to jersey, philly and southbend so far to catch a few shows. success isn't always about radio play and cash.

for me today's music, is whatever is playing on my iPod.

Did he choke because he was expecting to hear taped perfection rather than the excitment of a live performance?

To be fair Arnel did a fair bit of choking himself on his first night probably due to nerves and it was still better than the latter few years under Augeri with the tapegate allegations. Not that the frist gig was shoddy by any means but by all accounts the next gig was a massive improvement for Arnel. Good stuff.

Yea, I'm a fuckin' Crack Up!
Just ask everyone that is all over the Arnel-Double-Dutch-Bus already.
I'm giving little "rudy" a chance but 2 shows isn't enuff to claim him
the Second Coming of The Voice!

I guess I deserve EVERYTHING I have to put up w/from all
of Arnel Pineda's Pinata Army

Now I know what it must have been like to be a Wiggler last year
dealing with assholes like moi

Umm...?

I wish him the best, but the Christmas song does not inspire confidence.
It's a low range, bluesy rendition..something Steve can do in his sleep.
His ability to sing in his low range was never in question - not even as he limply trudged along on his final stretch with Journey.
His feeble attempts to sing in his once-glorious upper range towards the end, (ahh, which is where it really counts!), comes off sounding weak and off-pitch as usual.

I'm afraid this is not the exalted Augeri comeback fans have long been waiting for, nor that of which certain SA water-carriers have cracked it up to be.

I think Steve should do whatever is in Steve's musical interest. It's his time now.
I didn't like "Butterfly" or "Believe", so I really hope he re-teams up with his Tall Stories buds.

My point here is not to continue to wee on the ghost of Augeri-Journey past, I'm just making the point that his voice is still not up to the uvula-shredding toils of the Journey catalogue. Maria, u know where I'm coming from, so don't paint me as some Perry-infatuated SA hater.

I met Brooke and Steve a couple of months ago and I can tell you, first hand, that Steve's voice sounds great. They are working on Steve's album together but these things do take time, and always longer than you anticipate. He's also a committed family man and has a life outside of the music business.

All good things come to those who wait.

So you were able to sit in on some recording sessions? How did the music sound? Did it have a pop or a rock feel to it? Do you remember any of the lyrics you heard him sing?

No, just an impromptu jamming session. Nothing organised. Steve sang versions of Kashmir and Rocky Mountain Way among others and sounded really relaxed and fresh.

"Relaxed" is the way I want to hear his voice, not straining to hit Perry notes.

Thanks for the info!
