WOW!

It’s Official: Yngwie Taps Ripper Owens as New Singer

Rumors have been circulating for some time, but Guitar World has confirmed that Ripper Owens is indeed the new lead singer for Yngwie Malmsteen. Yngwie announced the news to the Guitar World staff today when he came to the magazine’s New York headquarters for an exclusive interview and photo shoot.

Malmsteen and Owens, who formerly fronted Judas Priest, are hard at work on a new CD, which is currently scheduled for a July release.

This news was announced yesterday on Yngwie's Official Website at www.yngwie.org.

He's been very tight lipped about the new album and his touring band until now. Came as a shock to me that Doogie White isn't singing with him any longer. It will be interesting to see what direction his music takes with "The Ripper" singing!

Yngwie really has had an awesome brigade of vocalists to work with him.

I'm really surprised that Yngwie picked Ripper. His style is a bit different than most of the vocalists that Yngwie has had in his band.

I really enjoyed Doogie's singing and I hope Rippen can do as good of a job as Doogie did.
I enjoy the instrumentals the most on Yngwie albums,, but as Prog mentioned above, Yngwie has had many good singers,,,,, starting with Jeff of course,,,,I think all of them that followed after all did a great job

Mark Boals
Joe Lynn Turner
Goran Edman
Mike Vescera
Mats Leven
and Doogie White

All great in my book!!!

Speaking of Yngwie's singers, I'm lookin forward to hear Mark Boals on the new Royal Hunt cd (out March 14th!) 8)

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Lets hope it all works out well but Tim deserves better than this in my opinion.

Well,, I have full confidence in Yngwie, when it comes to choosing a singer (not much when it comes to keepin one though)...
I think eventually Yngwie will go for a full swedish line up,,,,, Patrick Johansson is a keeper for sure,,,, now if he can get Jens back on Keys and Goran Edman on Vox, he is all set!!!
