Lovin Touchin Squeezin, Lights, and Rubicon all suck big hairy balls.

lights
wheel in the sky
any way you want it
don't stop believin'
seperate ways
open arms
lovin' touchin' squeezin' (unless they do extended blues jams all the time)
stone in love
faithfully

WITS is awesome live with its extended riffage.

DSB is vintage, gotta keep it.

SW is quite possibly their best of the "hit single" songs.

SIL is a FUN tune and a good opener.

Faithfully is just beautiful, their best ballad.

Lights is boring.

AWYWI has never translated well live.

LTS is a sucky song, and Open Arms is their worst ballad in my opinion.

With Arnel, I voted LTS.

I want to hear him sing OA and Lights. Nails those perfectly. LTS has that black/soul groove that only Perry and Jeff could do. SA sucked on that tune, IMO.

I also think Pineda could nail WCN.

Oh I don't know...anything that AP sings?
Not denying the band's current choice or him living out his dreams, but I still think that getting Chalfant, and bringing back Rolie, is probably the best thing this band could have done...of course, aside of <somehow> getting Perry back.

later~

Even on bad nights, Augeri usually performed that one fairly consistently I thought.

It's the easiest tune by far, and the only one he did live the last two tours. I just think his voice is a bit thin for it, JMO.

Drop SIL.
If the band is content to be shackled to the dirty dozen, than each one better damn count.
I never hear SIL on the radio, or utilized anywhere in the pop-cultural zeitgeist (movies, ads, tv etc).
Do casual slobs even know this tune?

Retire it just this once.

Lesser songs are more deserving (AWYWI, LTS etc), but have left too deep a mark in the public conciousnes to be dropped now.
Cut SIL and I assure you the casual masses go home none the wiser.

Add SHML. That is a classic, that always gets overlooked.

Agreed. I hate to say this, but I am almost in favor of adding as many ballads to the setlist as possible. Listen to OA or Faithfully. They, as opposed to rockers, lie right in Arnel's wheelhouse. Like Perry, this guy's strength is the pussy shit.

It's so good to have you back.

Those fuckin Cons have my BP over 200.

I need your help. We're like Simon and Garfunkel. Or maybe Sam and Dave. In any event, we dominated this place, exterminated the fuckin Loons to perfection, and had some serious beatdowns of some lost trolls.

Sure did.
Say, by any chance, feel up to checking into the "Hotel" tonight, good sir? Hahahha

If you're referring to Stone In Love, I hear that song on the radio enough to make it relevant. That's a great high energy song if you ask me. As far dropping those tunes, don't drop any.

I think Stone In Love is a GREAT tune! That was a track Jeff did VERY well with. As for Arnel...if he doesn't improve on SIL, they may have to drop it, just because he can't sing it! He was fucking DREADFUL singing that in the first performance with the band. I was actually shocked how bad he was. As for songs to drop...I've always thought "Anyway You Want It" and "Open Arms" were horrendous songs, so I'd deep six both of them

Not as much as Anyway You Want it. One riff, repeated over and over and over and over...

I went for LTS but could have just as easily gone for WITS and Lights. Never liked any of those three.

I agree that the ballads seem to be Arnel's strength, but I don't want more of them in the set list. That's a big reason why I was so happy they hired Jeff because it meant that they could rock more. I don't want to leave a Journey concert feeling like I just saw Air Supply. I think AWYWI is a fun song to hear at a show. I honestly hate it when they play The Girl Can't Help It, Suzanne, or Only the Young. Blech.

I picked LTS, but not because I don't like it. That's the one that really think no one else can touch emotionally. It just never seems to come across the way it should. I didn't actually hear Arnel's version because my streaming just flat out failed at the end, but I wasn't real sure I even wanted to hear that anyway. :?

Although Stone in Love... BLECH! That should go becasue Arnel just can't do it.
And I love that one too much to be able to stand hearing what that dude did to it. If it doesn't improve heavily, it should go.

I want to hear deep cuts pre Escape myself... I think Arnel sounded amazing on Wheel In The Sky on his 1st show..

I don't want any of those huge hits dropped.
I want some shit ADDED, though.

But Deano has a great theory on this, that ALL of the above hits are huge crowd-pleasers/participation drawers, and it can be a real boot in the ass to be among a crowd getting into those songs.

No Arrival, no Red 13 and no Generations songs and I'll be happy. Dump LTS and Lights, too. 2 complete shit songs.

You're a bleepin dope.

And what's your problem w/ Rubicon? Rocks too hard for you, ya Mary?

My setlist would be minumum 120 min and include Rubicon, Frontiers, After The Fall and possibly Edge Of The Blade and Chain Reaction.

I'd give Pineada a chance to see if he can make Higher Place rock live, have him try I Can Breathe and do The Place In Your Heart.

Not cool, dude.

No one likes a spy. :)

I do appreciate you leaving my "I'd fuck me....I'd fuck me" out of the report though. :D
