I hate the background; you have to highlight everything just to read it.
I hadn’t seen this quote before:
Neal Schon, guitarist and one of Journey's founding members, insisted Arnel was the guy for the job. Arnel recounts Schon saying: "This is the guy. If we're not getting him, I'd rather form another band."
Interesting…

he had a rough upbringing.
QUOTE- "he tearfully recalled sleeping on a wooden bench at a friend's house and watching while the family eat breakfast. If food was left over, Arnel had something to eat."

Good read....need to put a more flattering Youtube clip. Surely his performance of 'Open Arms' with the band is available...

I'll take a better look at that page later on today. But from what I see so far, if this is really Arnel's own page that he himself set up, I'm very curious as why there isn't some key piece of information there plus other things that I'm waiting to see come out which could only come from him. Unless he's holding back some stuff due to it being personal and all. I have a feeling that this page was set up by someone other then Arnel himself. In due time I'll find out from Arnel himself it this is really his doings. But for right now, I doubt it. For some odd reason, it is very popular in Japan for people off the street to hijack a famous person's identity and then create these myspace and friendster pages as the person. Try it, go on one of the two and do a search for Ayumi Hamasaki and see how many different pages come up in the search. And I know there is only one Ayumi Hamasaki, so what gives?
I guess they get a kick out of getting attention from people until the scam/gig is up. Had myspace and friendster been around in 1980, Chapman would very likely have just set a page up and possed as Lennon instead of going out and shooting him.

"I'd rather form another band."
Now you're talkin' Neal!
I do hope he sticks with this thought if Arnel does not work out....one more lead singer is really ugly
But the man has praised all of his lead singers as THE ONE, so forget it

I guess I don't.
Unofficial means a fan made it, and they're not even claiming that Arnel has any part in it.

After two auditions in Journey's rehearsal warehouse, Jonathan Cain, keyboard player of Journey, was still not convinced. He suggested taking Arnel back to his home recording studio to test his recording voice. Neal Schon, guitarist and one of Journey's founding members, insisted Arnel was the guy for the job. Arnel recounts Schon saying: "This is the guy. If we're not getting him, I'd rather form another band."
If true, this is a lot of inside info.
Also, how did this site get "friended up" with all those big names? Bill Graham? Gregg Rolie, Chalfant? Did they somehow import certain Journey friends?

They likely went to the Journey page and started sending out "friends" requests to all the artists on there that are Journey related. Bands always say yes.

Well I got a chance to read this myspace profile today. All that profile is, is just a compilation of information from youtube interviews and wiki. Wiki for sure because the incorrect information that is on wiki is also appearing on this myspace profile as well.
I guess I was very nieve and thought that the famous people would actually set up their own profile, totally wrong on my part. But then logically thinking, who would have the time to set up and maintain a myspace profile if they are active in their profession? I look back at the time I was singing in bands and there was no way I would be able to do all the practices, performances, traveling, etc. and at the same time spend time setting up and maintaining a profile on myspace. Even today as a corporate working class guy, I still do not have time where I can just sit down and fuck off the time away on myspace. Hell, I don't even have the time to do a serious research on this forum for information. Again, this forum is very active in my opinion. Sometimes I just am blown away by how many posts and new threads have been started in such short time. To me it's just unreal and at times overwhelming. Bottom line, this site really must be very popular around the world with so many hits it receives and active participants.
