The Songs called Wildest Dreams, IMO a great rocking tune. If there is a lot of this kind of sound on the new album they'll do just fine. Great tune and perfect title for the new album.
Here's Wildest Dreams off of their upcoming album REVELATIONS.

First Impression:
Sounds like an Arrival-era song all over, with Neal's solos being more Generations or Soul Sirkus-ish.
I love the chorus, and Arnel's voice doesn't sound bad.
GREAT energy from Arnel, I like the song upon first impression but don't love it.
I'll reserve more critical judgement for when I hear a better version of the song.

I was wondering about that sound. The boy and I listened together and both asked, "where's the "Journey" sound legacy thing?" lol That explains it.
I'm with you, though I can't help think it might sound better cleaned up in the studio. That was real raw. I even noticed Neal having to tap out the rhythm with his left foot. Dang! Okay, so the kid pointed that one out or I would have never noticed. lol
It definitely gives Arnel an opportunity to show "his" voice.

I agree with you.

In my opinion, their sound really is retro in some areas of the song. At some points of the song, it sounds like early 70's rock and then in other it sounds like early 80s. I'm not so overwhelmed by the sound, but better stuff may be on the album or even this song itself may sound better on the album. But for sure I'm planning to get the Journey CD & DVD package as mentioned during this footage, which is supposed to be available in June 08'.

Of the three new songs, this one was the weakest..by far. The other two reminded me of Classic Journey..both the other songs were GREAT....

IMO, it was an average song with a good beat. I think anyone could've sung that song though. The vocals were not outstanding, really kind boring. That's not a slam on Arnel, it just goes to show me that the song was written with no particular voice in mind.
Stage presence... still not there. All I saw was some clapping and twirling. Perhaps all the talk about stage presence (or lack thereof) has him trying too hard, and I'm still not sold.
It did look like the crowd was enjoying themselves, though, and I guess that's what it's all about. To each his own, I guess.

I'll buy the dvd/cd when it comes out.
Hopefully I'll get to see them live this year and decide my real opinion then.

If the new title didn't come so close on the heels of the similarly titled "Generations", this would be ok - but it lacks a certain oomph factor. I'd go with "Freedom".

This new song is decent, but the "still in my wildest dreams" chorus sounds awfully lot like a rocked-out version of Orleans "Still The One", or any one of the countless forgetable beer and burger ads that have used the anthem.
Then again, maybe a new Journey song being analogized to "faceless corporate advertising" isn't so much a critique, as it is a triumphant return to their 80's glory.
All in all, job well done.

Uh oh. Here comes Arrival again. Underwhelmed. I'll have to hear a studio recording to be sure, but this doesn't bode well for me.

One of the other new songs, "Saving Grace", has a haunting WCTNGOF melancholia about it.
Neal has used "saving grace" recently in lyrics for "Out of Harms Way", "Lifetime of Dreams", and I think one other.
Now he (apparently) has deemed it fit to write a whole song about it.
EDIT: The song was mistakenly labeled on YouTube. It is actually "All These Years".

I can barely understand a word Arnel is saying. I hate the song too. This seals it. I'm completely done and OVER Journey. A better album title would be "Travesty".

I can't understand the diction of Augeri or Perry on nearly any of my boots, and in some cases, not on the studio cuts either.
That's why there's liner notes.

My, how infinitely clever.
Arnel Pineda is the new trans-national, multi-ethnic singer of the band Journey.
If that's not up to your lilly-white country club tastes, there's always John Tesh.

Youtube isn't the means to judge due to the sound quality, but this song does nothing for me, and I doubt a cleaner sounding version won't change my mind. Hope some of the others sound better.

Can't hear/decipher shit from this audio.
I hear some great hooks here and there...look forward to the real soundboard live vesion of this on the Revelations dvd release.
Have A Good Time is a live-only tune (and not bad at that) from the Vacation's Over tour.

Ya'll will have to plan an Orlando trip so we can meet up.
