Perry Folks - A question

I'm curious if he's heard/seen AP and if he's offered an opinion. If not, hope that'll be asked in future interviews.

Also, its my understanding he has NO contractual ties to the band as of sometime this or last year. Please confirm or deny.

I think only the "inner circle" can answer that one. As far as an opinion, he is a classy gentleman. If he doesn't have something good to say, I am sure he won't say anything at all. (this unlike other backstabbing individuals in the music business)

I believe it was noted on here that he no longer has contractual ties to the band. But then again, that is his personal business. He is a savvy business man.

I would say that it is VERY unlikely you'll hear Steve Perry offer a single comment on Arnel's competence as a lead singer. I think Perry made it quite clear, many years ago, that the guys calling themselves "Journey" today aren't a band that he considers to be Journey, which incidentally, isn't unlike anyone else in the music industry! I'm sure nothing will ever change, in that regard!

I believe that is correct, from what I've read. He obviously still gets royalties for all the songs that he wrote or co-wrote (which is basically he entire catalog), and that part will never end. Once you write a song, you can lay claim to it, FOREVER!

it amuses me, that he will get $$ from any "re recording" of GH that they do now. Isn't like ironic like that? 8)

why should he comment on it? All it does is put him back in the middle of the spotlight, which he has tried very hard to move away from. All he has to do is claim ignorance, and not hearing any material--which judging by the airplay received, wouldn't be that hard to do.

Anyways, as has been pointed out, most people having been in a band don't really take kindly or have much interest in what the band is doing if their own leaving was not on good terms. Perry's opinion on the situation or Arnel as a singer has absolutely nothing to do with him, so let the guy live his life in peace. His legacy is secure when he walked away, and he doesn't have to deal with everybody commenting that his voice is a shadow of its former glory, wondering whether he'll make it though the next show. Pretty smart, if you ask me.

Perhaps Laura or Cyndy could pose this question when they talk to him again...if he chooses to make a public comment....great, but I think we all know he won't. Doesn't hurt to ask, however.

I wonder if the band sent Mr. Perry an advance copy of Revelations? Has he viewed the youtube clips? I'd bet he has, just for curiousity's sake...

I seriously doubt Lora or Cyndy would ask him anything regarding Journey present. You'll never hear him talk about it either - he's stated before he keeps his memories of his time with them and leaves it at that. Yep, he is a classy guy!
