No, I'm not referring to the day that Steve Perry left Journey!

Below is a 6 part link to a youtube video that I found about the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. It's an incredible documentary filled with interviews, rare pictures and video, and even some interesting conspiracy theories involving the crash. If any of you are fans of rock and roll's pioneers and roots, please check this out. While the Buddy Holly Story was a good movie, it was very inacurate. This documentary is the real deal.

Also, not sure if any of you heard about this, but the Big Bopper's body was recently exhumed and re-examined to try and put some of the crash theories to rest. That creeped the shit out of me when I read that.

Aw man, I didn't even look at the vids yet and I want to thank you for posting these vids up. When I was little, me and Ice grew up on that movie La Bamba. The day the music died. It will forever be apart of me and will never forget getting my first little guitar when I was like 7 and singing Ritchie Valens' La Bamba. Very sad and unfortunate time in Rock N' Roll History.

You're very welcome YJ! My dad would constantly play Buddy Holly when I was a little kid. Every Sunday morning during breakfast, he'd have the movie soundtrack playing. And I thought LaBamba was a terrific movie.

Reading about the Big Bopper being exhumed peaqued my interest in the plane crash again.

Man, one could only imagine what those guys would have accomplished had they lived.

I hear yah, esp Ritchie since he was only 17, and Buddy Holly was highly at his peek at the time. Gets me depressed all over again just thinking about it.

YJ - I'm guessing you're also a fan of Los Lonely Boys? I was just listening to them this morning. Solid CD. Very Ritchie Valens influenced.

My only beef with them is that their drummer's nickname is Ringo. Any drummer who thinks it's ok to call themselves Ringo at this point should be smacked.
