Not enough output. If the "Against the Wall" sessions had become a record, and he had released that oft-rumoured record in '99...and he continued to write and perform today...then yes. It's all or nothing in the end, though. But who wants to be a part of that sham, anyway?

Exactly. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about as "Rock and Roll" as Friga having a tea party with Dr. Dre and John Denver.

I agree that Perry solo would likely be in with a couple more records and a bigger industry presence.. while it's a shame he didn't do more, I appreciate that we have what we do!

You know, I was listening to "Windsong" by Denver today, and I got to thinking...he was one of those guys that always seemed to be in his late 30's or early 40's. Sort of like Elton John...even when they were young, they seemed middle-aged.

It would be weird seeing Journey get the RRHOF induction with all five of their lead singers on stage.

You have to be a very popular artist or have had some lasting impact on music in general to even be considered. Perry didn't do enough as a solo artist to warrant either. Shame though as he has one of the most recognizable and impressive voices in rock and roll history, but unfortunately that alone is not enough.

Journey should be inducted. It's a crime they've been passed over as often as they've been.

Was that the reason? I thought it was something the hall trustees decided relating to Neal not being a founding member.

I believe the committee can exclude someone if it's deemed they didn't contribute much to the band (think of the Beatles and Def Leppard), but they didn't make that recommendation with Neal. That was Noriega's call, and he fucked it up.

Well, remember when Spinal Tap was inducted into the British Metal HOF? They had the 16 surviving drummers (among the 37 they have at one time or another had in their employ), including that blond geek with glasses, on stage during the ceremony. It was like catching the tube at Surrey at 7 in the morning. What a fiasco! Plus, Nigel got lost backstage after the presentation and wound up in the back alley next to a Mandarin Chinese restaurant.

I'd like to think only members deemed to have made an impact on music history would be considered. If we're being honest and realistic, that's only members from Infinity to Trial by Fire. (ducking now!)

As much as I love Perry and believe Journey wouldn't exist, if Perry wasn't brought into the band, I don't believe Perry warrants being inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF as a solo artist. I believe Perry was talented enough to succeed on his own, without Journey, but it doesn't change the fact that his main career success was as the frontman of Journey!

Shortly after being knee-capped by JT, my name came up on the short list of available , local guitar techs that CS was looking at.
Despite my bona fides and personal relationship with his management, CS nixed me simply due to my past tenure with NS and the "others".

When I found that out, I realized he's as fucked up as NS is and that further hastened my retirement from "The Music Business."
